Eliminating Fraying of Weft Yarn
Description
• Weft yarn consist of a
multifilament of PES
covered with a layer
of vinyl. (Ø < 1 mm)
• When the core yarn
are cut lengthwise the
filament come out like
a brush by time.
Goal of the Project
Eliminating the fraying by for example:
• Complete new material
• Monofilament
• Mixing different material that melts together
• Treatment of the core yarn
The yarn must run continuously into the
extruders up to 800 m/min.

Mix of textile and vinyl
Description
• Today: woven vinyl flooring
• Tomorrow: New product with a mix of
woven vinyl and softer threads.
• Why? To take market shares from textile
floor coverings and improve sound
absorption qualities, be unique and
innovative

• Finding a suitable material that will provide
a product with improved textile feeling
• The material needs to be able to fix with
PVC
