Welcome to Kalindi College. Every year a large number of students apply for admission to the college and we hope
to make the admission process smooth and hassle-free. Please read this section carefully to get acquainted with the
admission requirements and procedure.

Admission to the first year of undergraduate courses offered in the college will be in accordance with the
schedule specified by the University of Delhi, Bulletin of Information for Admission, and stated as such in
the College Prospectus, except in those courses/categories were stated otherwise, such in the College
Prospectus, except in those courses/categories where stated otherwise.
Admission to the Four Year Undergraduate Programme shall be based on Discipline Course – 1 (Major
Discipline).
All admissions will be made by the College Admission Committee.
The cut-off marks of various courses for GENERAL/OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories, which are the basis of
admission to the College, will be displayed on the Notice Board as well as the College website and the
University website (http://du.ac.in), from time to time, in accordance with the University schedule during
the admission period.
There is no minimum age bar for admissions to undergraduate courses in the college.
Gap years would be no bar for the purpose of admission to undergraduate courses.
For admission under the reserve categories of J&K Migrants/ Children of War Widows, the admission
process shall continue to be centralized and shall be conducted at the University level by the office of
Deputy Registrar, Academic.
For admission to any course, there may be different cut-off percentages for students from different streams
i.e. Science, Commerce and Humanities/ Social Sciences.
Only eligible students will be given admission in accordance with the announced merit- based criteria.
Rounding-off of fractions to determine eligibility is not permissible.
The College retains its right to seek verification of information submitted from competent authorities.
Concealment or misrepresentation of any material information is liable to lead to cancellation of admission,
in addition to appropriate legal action.
No individual intimation will be sent regarding the acceptance or rejection of any application.
No student will be allowed to take Admission in two Courses/ Colleges/ Universities simultaneously. In
case, they are found to be admitted in two courses/ colleges/ Universities simultaneously, their admission
will be cancelled, as per University Rules.
Those seeking admission to the M.A. courses are required to get themselves registered at the appropriate
Faculty of the University of Delhi. Admission to the College will be on the basis of the University merit
list. Those admitted will be required to pay the college fees as per the prescribed fee structure.

15.2 REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

Candidates who have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination (Class 12) of the Central Board of
Secondary Education or a recognized equivalent examination are eligible to apply.
1. Academic Subjects and Procedure for Calculating Best of Four Percentage (For courses wherein admission
is done on the basis of Best of Four)
2. The following Discipline I subjects offered by the University of Delhi for admission to undergraduate
courses must be treated as Academic/Elective subjects for the purpose of admission. All other subjects
offered by different boards may be treated as non-elective. All the Discipline I subjects must have at least a
70% component of theory exams (theory exam does not include internal assessment/continuous evaluation
etc.) in the qualifying exam for the purpose of being treated as academic/elective subject.

*Accountancy will be treated as equivalent to Commerce wherever any board is not offering commerce as
a subject.
Biology and Business studies will be treated as academic/elective subjects. University may define any other
relevant subjects as academic/elective for a particular Honours course.
#Home Science, Music, and Physical Education will be treated as academic/elective only for Honours in
Home Science, Music and Physical Education (at IGIPESS only), respectively.
Procedure for calculation of ‘Best of Four’ subjects percentage:I. One Language (Core/Elective/Functional)
II. Subject in which admission is sought (Discipline I)
III. Any two other academic/elective subjects (as defined earlier)
i. If a candidate has not studied the subject in which he/she is seeking admission in the Discipline I, then
a disadvantage of 2% may be imposed on the calculated Best of Four percentage.
ii. The colleges will have to consider only the academic/elective subject for calculation of Best of Four
percentage if the candidate has studied at least four academic/elective subjects or one language and
three academic/elective subjects.
iii. In case a candidate has not studied three academic/elective subjects, then a disadvantage of 10% of the
maximum marks may be levied on each such non-elective subject(s) to be included for the calculation
of Best of Four percentage.
iv. In case a candidate has studied three academic/elective subjects but wishes to include the percentage of
non-elective subject(s) for the calculation of Best of Four, then a disadvantage of 10% of the maximum
marks may be levied on each such non-elective subject(s) to be included for the calculation of Best of
Four percentage.
v. All the academic/elective subjects should have 70% component of theory exams (theory exam does not
include internal assessment/continuous evaluation etc.). Otherwise these will be treated as non-elective
subject.
vi. In case a candidate has studied both elective and core in any languages, then core language will be
treated as language, while elective language can be considered as academic/elective subject.
7. For admission to Honours in any language course, advantage of 2% in the Best of Four percentage may be
given to those candidates who have studied the elective language.2% disadvantage in the Best of Four
percentage may be given to those who have studied functional language only. In case, a candidate has not
studied the language at qualifying exam and is seeking admission in Honours in that language, he/she may
be given a disadvantage of 5% in Best of Four percentage. However, for admission to Honours in English
and Hindi, the candidate must have studied the respective language and has to be included for calculation
of Best of Four percentage.
Examples for calculation of ‘Best of Four percentage’ are given below.
Example 1:
If a candidate is seeking admission in Honours in
Commerce and Studied: Accounts (90), Business
Studies (92), English (88) and Economics (94). Then his
total marks are 90+92+88+94=364 and effective
percentage is 91%
Example 3:
If a candidate is seeking admission in Honours in
Commerce and Studied: Accounts (88),
Entrepreneurship (92), English(90) and Web Designing
(94). Then, his total marks are 88+92+90+96=366,
Percentage is 91.5%. But Effective marks are 88+82(9210)+90+84(94-10)=344 and effective Percentage is 86%.

Example 2:
If a candidate is seeking admission in Honours in
Commerce and Studied: Physics (96), Chemistry (92),
English (90) and Mathematics (94). Then his total marks
are 96+92+90+94=372 and Percentage 93%. But
Effective Percentage is 93-2 = 91%
Example 4:
If a candidate is seeking admission in Honours in English
and Studied: Accounts (90), Business Studies (92),
English (88) and Home Science (94). Then total marks
are 90+92+88+94=364, and Percentage is 91%. But
effective marks are 90+92+88+84(94-10) = 354 and
effective Percentage is 88.5%.
The candidates must have studied Mathematics at the qualifying exam for admission to Honours in
Economics.
The Basis of Selection for Mathematical Sciences/Science courses remains unchanged. However the
subjects to be included for Basis of Selection (PCM/PCB/PCMB) must have at least 70% component of
theory exams (theory exam does not include internal assessment/continuous evaluation etc.) in the
qualifying exam otherwise a disadvantage of 10% of the maximum marks may be levied on each such
subject.

15.3 EQUIVALENCE CRITERIAसमतु यमानद ड
The applications for admission to the undergraduate courses in the College of candidates belonging to the
Examining bodies of Boards/ Universities recognised/ accredited by the association of Indian Universities /
University Grants Commission/ Ministry of Human Resources Development shall be considered by the College/
Department in terms of the following recommendations as circulated in the University circular letter of 13-1-2005:
1. That various degrees from Universities recognised by the Association of Indian Universities/ University
Grants Commission/ Ministry of Human Resource Development by any bilateral agreement be considered
as equivalent to corresponding degrees of University of Delhi subject to the conditions that course duration
be the same as in Delhi University for the purposes of determining eligibility for admission to various
courses and further Departments/ Colleges may be allowed to evolve procedures through their respective
admission committees.
2. Senior School Certificate of various Boards recognised by Association of Indian Universities/ Central
Board of Secondary Education be considered equivalent to the Senior School Certificate of Central Board
for the purposes of eligibility to various Undergraduate Courses.
3. Students who pass various Degree/ School Examination of Foreign Universities/ Boards as have already
been approved by the Equivalence Committee, from time to time, be considered eligible as a matter of
routine.
The cases of only those candidates who do not fall in the list of Association of Indian Universities /
Universities Grant Commission / Ministry of Human Resource Development recognised accredited Boards/
Universities shall be referred to the University on the basis of individual merit.
4. The admission in any course shall not be granted on predicted scores.
5. Grade conversion [As per AC Resolution. No. 319, dated 22.3.1976]:
Formula/ Equivalence of the grade point average awarded in Cambridge School Certificate/ Malayalam/ Overseas
African G.C.E. and / or 12th Grade Examination of American Embassy School, New Delhi with the percentage of
marks as are awarded in the Higher Secondary Examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education New
Delhi, for the purpose of admission to different courses in the University.

15.4 RECHECKING / RE-EVALUATION AND COMPARTMENT CASES

1. The colleges shall consider admission of the candidates whose marks get increased in the process of
rechecking/ re-evaluation by their respective boards within the prescribed period of admission provided that
such a candidate fulfills the other eligibility conditions laid down for admission.
2. Candidates placed under compartment in one subject only at the Senior Secondary School Certificate
Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, or an examination recognised as equivalent
thereto of any statutory University/ Board will be eligible for provisional admission in the College and NonCollegiate Women’s Education Board, if they obtain the required minimum percentage of marks in the
aggregate by adding the minimum pass marks of the subject in which the candidate has been placed under
compartment to the marks obtained in the remaining subjects.
3. Candidates who fail to appear or fail to pass at the compartmental examination by 31 August of the year of
admission shall not be entitled to continue on rolls and their provisional admission will be cancelled without
any further reference to them.
4. Candidates placed in Compartment in one/ two subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate
Examination or an equivalent examination who are not eligible for provisional admission to regular Colleges
and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board under clause a) may, after clearing their compartmental
Examination and securing at least 40% marks be admitted in a college before the prescribed last date, subject
to availability of seats.
Note: Candidates placed in Compartment will not be considered for admission to Bachelor (Hons)/B.Tech. Courses
under the Faculty of Science.

I. The College will display the 'cut-offs' on the dates announced by the University. The candidate should verify
that her marks fall within the 'cut-offs' announced and all eligibility criteria are met (including relevant
special requirements).
2. The application for admission to the College should be made on the prescribed forms. The application form

12.6 Foreign Students
1. A valid Student Visa is a pre-requisite for admission on arrival. No admission will be granted on Tourist
Visa/ X-Visa.
2. English Proficiency certificate of TOEFL or IELTS scores is mandatory for foreign students at the time
of submission of Application Form for admission in the University. If the candidate is unable to provide
any of these score certificates or English proficiency certificate, then the candidate may be asked to
appear in the English proficiency test, which is conducted by the Institute of Life Long Learning
(ILLL), University of Delhi.

The Equivalence of the Degree/ School Certificate may be procured by the applicant from the
Association of Indian University (AIU) before submission of her application.

Admissions under J&K Migrants/ Children of War Widows shall be centralized and conducted at the University
level by the office of Deputy Registrar , Academic.
All those candidates who are covered under any of the categories of reservation for children of War / Kashmiri
Migrants must register seperately online / ofline if they wish to be considered for any other category

All foreign students, including those who have completed their schooling from an Indian Board may be treated as Foreign
Students for the purpose of their registration/ admission in various departments and Colleges of the University and they may be

Upto 5% of the total seats in all Discipline Courses-I separately are available for admissions on the basis of
Sports/ ECA.
For admission under the ECA category, separate Application Form, which is available in the College
Office, shall be filled by the candidates.
Students seeking admission under this category should clearly indicate the ACTIVITY under which the
admission is being sought.
There will be two levels of trials: i) Preliminary Trials; and ii) Final Trials.
To qualify in Preliminary Trial is mandatory to appear in Final Trials. List of selected candidates (as per the
University of Delhi guidelines listed below) to appear for the Fitness Trials will be displayed on the
College Notice Board and College website.
Please check College Website or College Notice Board for details concerning ECA Trials. In case of vacant
seats, a Second Round of ECA Trials will be held and dates would be notified accordingly.

NOTE:
Candidates must clearly mark the category/ activity on the top of their Application Form and attach a copy
of all the relevant documents highlighting their distinctions during last three years.
There shall be two experts from outside College in the selection process.
Candidates must submit a list of Extra Curricular Activities mentioning the level of participation and prizes
won in the last three years only.
Weightage given to the certificates of winners/ participants at International, National, State, Zonal and
School level and trials is as follows: (a). Certificates: 25% & (b). Trials: 75%
Not more than 15% concession in academic merit vis-à-vis General Category candidates may be given for
admission to specific courses (subject to minimum eligibility of the course).
A Committee constituted by the College, as per University guidelines, will decide admission on the basis of
ECA (Extra Curricular Activities). The decision of the ECA Admission Committee shall be final and
binding.
A letter of recommendation from the Principal/ Officiating Authority of the School last attended, clearly
giving details of activities participated in, must be included.
Incompleteformswillnotbeconsidered.
The College retains the right to accept/deny order of preference mentioned by the candidate for Discipline
Course-I.
In the event of no candidate found suitable in any particular Activity, the College ECA Admission
Committee reserves the right not to make admission for the same. The decision of the college regarding
selections shall be final and binding.
Any student submitting any false/ forged/ fake certificate will be DEBARRED from admission to ANY
COURSE IN ANY COLLEGE FOR THREE YEARS. If she is admitted, her admission will be
CANCELLED. Such cases will be notified to all colleges.

No change of Discipline Course – 1 will be allowed without the prior permission of the Principal. This permission,
only in special cases, should be obtained in writing within four weeks from commencement of the session, and in no
case later than specified by the University. Transfer from one Discipline to another is generally not permitted.
However, if seats remain vacant in a course, a student who has already been admitted to another Discipline in the
college may be considered for transfer, provided she has at least the same academic merit as the last candidate
admitted to the course desired.

WITHDRAWAL OF ADMISSION izos’k

Withdrawal of admission and refund of fee shall be in accordance with the norms followed by University of Delhi.
Students are required to fill the requisite Proforma (available in the College Office) which must be counter-signed
by the Admission Convenor and Teacher-in-Charge of the concerned Department. Original certificates (if deposited
in the College) will be returned on the same day.
1. Students can expect a refund within 30 days.
2. In case of withdrawal after the commencement of the new academic session, the student will (in
addition) have to obtain the required clearances from the College Library and Laboratory.

Fill up the Form carefully after reading all the instructions.
The candidate should fill up the Form herself in blue ink.
Incomplete, tampered or mutilated Forms shall be rejected.
Misrepresentation and submission of false documents is punishable under law.
Fill up the Name and Date of Birth in Block Letters as given in the Class X Board Certificate.
Students must check the Eligibility Criteria of the course desired as given on page ……. before applying.
Student must fill up Father's/ Mother's Name/ Occupation/ Income, Office Address and Phone No. (if any).
Candidate seeking admission under Sports/ ECA (Extra Curricular Activities) Category must
attach 5 photographs with relevant certificates of participation and achievements duly
verified by the Head of Institution last attended and Issuing Authority.
Affidavits to be submitted by the candidates and parents/ guardians (Annexures I & II) are to be
made on non-judicial Rs.10/- stamp paper duly attested by the Notary.
The candidate must submit a jointly signed (by the Parent and the Candidate) Undertaking to abide by
College rules and regulations.
Choose the correct category under which you seek admission. If you do not belong to any special category,
choose General Category; otherwise choose the relevant category. BUT, CHOOSE ONLY ONE
