Academic Advising- Katrina Coakley – ALL FACULTY Dal 2, Rm 303
The faculty role is very important to the success of our students at UNTD, and offices like Academic
Advising are here to support the faculty and students outside of the classroom in any way that we
can. Students present a wide range of needs and skills, which calls for sensitive, knowledgeable
people who help guide students towards taking responsibility for their academic success. In this
session we will not only discuss the importance of advising from a retention perspective, but we
will be using case studies of real advising scenarios that have occurred at UNTD. We will also
discuss important campus resources so you can refer students when needed, as well as other
common advising topics through reviewing the case studies. This session should be very interactive
and hopefully informative as well.

Assessment/TracDat – Nick Viator Director of Assessment- ALL FACULTY Dal 2, Room 303
What is Assessment? The systematic collection, review, and use of information about educational programs
and other support programs undertaken for the purpose of program improvement, student
learning, and development. TracDat is a central repository for assessment information. Faculty and
staff can learn about and document assessment and quality improvement processes, procedures,
and evidence. The software can both lead and record assessment practices in academic,
administrative, and educational support areas. This system is also helpful for tracking assessment
information for accrediting groups (such as SACS) and annual reports. In addition, entered data
can be linked to General Education/Core Curriculum outcomes, Vision 2020, and other strategic
plans and goals.
Note: Marketing will be taking pictures of faculty during these days. A sign up sheet will be posted so individuals can pick times.
More information will come from David Kirkwood
