Principal’s Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Enrolling now for Kindergarten 2015
This week is all about the Dance and by now many of you would have had the wonderful opportunity to see
our talented students perform in the 2014 Colour My World dance concert. I do hope you enjoyed the
performances as much as our students and staff have.
I would like to take this opportunity to publically acknowledge talents and dedication of our amazing Dance
Teacher – Miss Banks. Miss Banks has been preparing for this week’s concerts since January this year.
Thanks must also go to the entire staff of WPHPS – this production has been a team effort with staff working
together on everything from program design, hall decoration, backstage management, creating props,
photography, video clips, seating ……. the list goes on!
Thank you also to the teams of class parents and class teachers who worked together to create the
amazingly colourful costumes. Thank you for your assistance behind the scenes with dressing, hair and
makeup.
Thank you also needs to go to the energetic team of parents who volunteered to provide an option for dinner
before the show each night. The ‘Sliders’ provided a healthy and filling meal for students and parents alike!
This year’s concert series is truly a whole school community event with students, parents and staff working
together to make it the wonderful success it has been.
DVD’s of the ‘Colour My World’ concert will be available before the end of the year.

2014 School Spectacular:- Best wishes to the eight students who have
been rehearsing all year in the lead up to this year’s School Spectacular –
your big day has finally arrived! I am confident that the teachers and
students from WPH who will be attending the matinee performance on
Friday 28th will be excited to see you perform with students from across
the state.
Special thanks to Mrs Alchin and Mrs Harberle for their dedication and
commitment working with Emma, Meena, Madison, Abigail, Ella, Madi,
Talia and Annabelle through-out the year. Thank you also to the parents
who assisted with transporting the students to and from the rehearsals in
the city.
Celebrating Student Achievement:- Congratulations to Anna L and Sophie L, in Year 3, who have once again qualified for the
BJP National Physical Culture Competition. Sophie has progressed to the semi-finals and Anna has progressed to the National
Final. We look forward to hearing more about these girls’ achievements at the next level!
Action Room Official Opening:- This week saw the official opening of the School’s self-funded multi-purpose room. Our School
SRC conducted a naming competition with all students K-6 having the opportunity to vote for their preferred option. The result of
the student vote was “The Action Room” – which was the name put forward by Brendan R (2H).
Tennis Update:- Last newsletter I missed acknowledging a few of our Tennis team members, Matthew R and Mackenzie J, who
represented the school on the 25th September.
Results from the event were:
 Jack B and Aidan G placed 1st
 Alex M and Jeremy Mc placed 2nd
 Hayden C and Jack L drew for 3rd
 Matthew R and Mackenzie placed 4th
OOSH has moved! After such a long wait the day has finally arrived and our before and after school students have now made
the move into their new purpose built facility. There was much excitement last Monday afternoon as students, YMCA staff and
myself attended the official opening of this long awaited venue. I am confident that students, staff and parents alike will thoroughly
enjoy and appreciate their new ‘home’.
This coming Friday Mrs Hamper, a parent Rep and myself will be meeting with the YMCA staff. These regular meetings take
place once each term and serve to strengthen our communication and provide an opportunity to discuss any OOSH operations or
any issues raised by parents, school staff and YMCA staff.
Next P&C Meeting:- will be held on Wednesday 10th December in the school Library – at 7:30pm for a 7:45pm start – hope to
see you there.

Colour My World Dance Concert
Many thanks to all of the Class Parents and other parents involved in the creating and sewing of dance costumes – your work
was truly amazing, and the children all looked spectacular. Thank you for your endless hours of work and tireless dedication.
Many thanks to Denise and Mark, together with their team of Helping Heros, for their enormous effort and hard work in providing
the slider meal deal for the dance concerts. We appreciate your time and generosity in serving the school community in this way.
Update - P&C volunteering & participation Workshop/Forum
Our P&C is undergoing a refresh to look at new ideas and approaches for 2015.
Recent workshops were well attended by many new faces and generated lots of energetic discussion. With this additional
support from our school families, we look forward to delivering a range of new services and activities in the new year.
Two new committees have been created - a social committee to help plan our calendar of events, and a communications
committee to look at how we can improve the sharing of information throughout the school community.
We're currently investigating new technology options for the canteen and uniform shop to ensure we continue to provide efficient,
effective services. We've also started thinking about how we can deliver a vibrant Spring Fair in 2015 while ensuring flexibility and
choice for our school families.
With your support, we look forward to providing necessary services as well as fun experiences for everyone to enjoy. Please join
us - the next P & C meeting is on Wednesday 10 December in the library at 7:30pm. New faces are always welcome so grab a
friend and come along to find out how you can be part of our school's P&C in 2015.
Can’t make the P&C night meetings?
Here’s your chance to be de-briefed and informed over a morning coffee – kids welcome!
Friday 12th December – come along and meet our P&C President Lisa Wilmshurst and our Principal Donna Harris. They will
summarise and recap the evening P&C meeting for anyone unable to attend. This is an informal gathering – BYO coffee and
children are welcome. Ask questions, provide feedback or simply come along to hear what is being discussed “behind the
scenes” in relation to our school.
9:00am in the K-2 play area on the new sandpit deck. Children are invited to play on the Friendship and in the sand pit while
we catch up on the news. Bring a friend and we will see you there!
Ever wondered what it’s like to volunteer in the canteen?
Come to the open mornings on the first three days of Term 1. January 28th, 29th & 30th, 2015.

Everyone is welcome to come and have a look inside the canteen, meet the supervisors and other volunteers, to sample some of
the food available to the children, and to see what goes on behind the shutters. We’re keen to explore ways of making it easier for
people to volunteer in 2015. Why not grab a friend and come and have a look. We look forward to welcoming you !

WPHPS Band Enrolments 2015Don't Miss Out!
Dear Year 2 Parents
As you will be aware, we are currently recruiting for the Junior Band for next year. This is a wonderful opportunity for
your child to try their hand at a musical instrument, experience the fun of being a part of the band with their friends,
make new friends, and learn to appreciate music.
We have had a number of students apply, however we are sure there are more budding musicians out there. We have
started our planning so the more idea we have of numbers now, the easier it will be for the committee.
-If you have been thinking of enrolling, then please go to
www.myschoolband.com.au/enrol and fill in the details now.
(If you already have a music teacher, please go through this website and just click 'other' when it asks re lessons.)
- If you didn't make it to the information night, then please speak to one of the band committee, or ring me on
0412718808.
- If your child already plays an instrument and wants to try out for the senior band, then please contact us to discuss.
- If you are having problems with the form or the internet, please let us know.
- If you aren't yet ready to commit, but are interested, we would still like to hear from you.
Any questions, please contact us at [email protected] or ring Katrina on 0412718808
Thanks for your support
