Intended use: The cold light source CLS 4500 HIGH CRI is intended for use in industrial and laboratory settings in indoor spaces. The cold light source must not be used in explosive atmospheres. If the device is used as intended, it serves to illuminate all kind of objects by guiding visible light of a high intensity through various light guides. The CLS 4500 HIGH CRI cold light source complies with the requirements of the following standards and directives: DIN EN 61010-1 (IEC 61010-1) DIN EN 62471 DIN EN 61326-1 Directive 2004/108/EC Directive 2006/95/EC Proof of the device‘s compliance with the requirements of the aforementioned standards and directives is demonstrated by the technical documentation. Safety notes: The cold light source emits visible light of a high intensity. Measurement of the device‘s photobiological safety according to DIN EN 62471 established a risk group 2 categorisatio. Carefully read and observe this operating manual! It contains important information regarding the safety of the user and the device. In case of non-compliance with the operating manual, the safety of the user and device cannot be guaranteed. Important! Possibly hazardous optical radiation. During operation of the device, do not look into the lamp or light guide socket for extended periods. This might be harmful to the eyes. Light-absorbing materials have the ability to convert incoming light into thermal energy. This thermal energy might therefore damage and/or burn light-absorbing material that is sensitive to heat and/or is flammable. By observing the following instructions you can avoid such damage or hazards: 18 Intelligent Lighting Solutions CLS 4500 HIGH CRI Never cover the open light guide socket or light guide socket. This poses a fire hazard! Strictly avoid covering the open light guide socket or light guide socket with your hand or other body parts. This poses a burn hazard! When illuminating heat-sensitive or flammable heat-absorbing objects (e.g. in microscopy), make sure the distance between the material in question and the light guide as well as the selected light intensity will not cause damage or pose a hazard to the object. To avoid hazards when the light source is switched on, make sure that all light guide sockets, which are not used during this work step, remain within a safe distance (at least 10 cm) of heat-sensitive or flammable light-absorbing material. Excessive illumination of biological tissue with visible light poses an unnecessary burden on the tissue, therefore the intensity of the light and duration of illumination of the tissue must be limited to the minimum extent that is necessary. The cold light source may only be operated at the voltage indicated on the type label (8). Make sure the device is provided with a protective guide connection. The cold light source is designed for use in dry rooms. The cold light source is not suitable for operation in explosive atmospheres. Disconnection from the mains power supply can only be achieved by removing the plug from the mains socket. For sufficient cooling of the device, ensure the ventilation slots (6, 7) are not covered. In case of insufficient cooling, the in-built sensor continuously decreases light intensity to prevent overheating of and damage to the light source. The device may only be opened and disassembled by trained and authorised service staff. Technical modifications of the device are prohibited. Repair work shall only be carried out by the manufacturer or authorised service experts. Keep this operating manual within reach for easy reference. The manufacturer disclaims all liability for damages resulting from a failure to observe the instructions contained in the operating manual. Waste disposal instructions: The CLS 4500 HIGH CRI cold light source must not be disposed of with household waste. If you want to dispose of your old device, please return it to ZETT OPTICS GmbH. ZETT OPTICS GmbH ensures that products are disposed of in a proper and environment-friendly manner. 19 Operating Instructions 3 Starting up 3.1Light guide socket First, rotate the collet chuck on the light guide socket (3) in a counterclockwise manner to open it. Now push the light guide into the socket up to the stop and rotate the collet chuck (3) clockwise to close it and ensure a reliable fit. In case the light guides are provided with a guide pin, make sure the guide pin is inserted in one of the guide slots. Please only use original light guides recommended by ZETT OPTICS for this light source. Important! The light guide socket (3) features a safety shutdown function to prevent dazzling of the operator. In case the light guide is not inserted correctly or has not been pushed up to the stop of the socket, the light source will not emit light after the device is switched on. 3.2 Mains supply Only use the cold light source with the specified IEC type cable. Connect the plug of the cold device into the connection socket. Country specific IEC type cables are available from authorised distributors of the light source. 3.3Starting up Turn the cold light source on by using the main switch (1). If the unit is powered on, the green power switch indicator light comes on. 3.4Decommissioning Turn the cold light source off by using the main switch (1) (all-pole disconnection from the mains).
