EMPLOYMENT:
Civil Servant since June 1988 in MLSI.
At present Acting Director of DLI. In the field of chemicals his
duties include the design of policy, the implementation and the
enforcement of legislation (REACH, CLP, SEVESO), the
management of issues related to international instruments such
as the Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions and SAICM.
During his previous positions, held in DLI as a Principal / Senior
Labour Inspection Officer and Engineering Inspector, he worked
as technical supervisor and trainer of Labour Inspectors, Head of
Safety and Health Sector and Coordinator of health and safety
inspection activities including chemicals.
He is representative of Cyprus in various EU Committees /
Groups such as the Senior Labour Inspectors Committee, the
Advisory Committee of Safety and Health and member of the
Management Board of the European Agency of Safety and
Health.
He represented Cyprus in International Labour Organisations
(ILO) Conferences and participated in the EU accession
negotiations Cypriot team.
Before joining the Civil Service he worked in the private sector for
4 years as Engineer in the manufacturing industry.
EDUCATION:
He is a holder of University Degrees in Electronics, Electrical
Engineering and Automatics (France 1982), Electrical
Engineering (France 1984) and a Master Degree in Public Sector
Management (Cyprus 2001). He has carried out also specialized
university studies in Occupational Safety and Health (UK 1992).
