ALCOA ADVANCED ARMOR PRODUCTS ArmX® is a family of armor alloys developed by Alcoa to deliver best-in-class ballistic and blast performance. ArmX® alloys include: ArmX® 7085-T711 plate, ArmX® 7085-T721 plate, 7085-ArmX® forging, ArmX® 6055-T651 plate and ArmX® 5456-H151 plate. ArmX® plate and forged products offer: Greater ballistic and blast-threat survivability v. conventional, equivalent weight aluminum armor Dramatically reduced weight v. steel armor at equivalent blast threat survivability The ArmX® Advantage: ArmX® Alloys Product Forms Incumbent ArmX® Advantage ArmX® 7085-T721, 7085-ArmX® Plate Forging 7039-T64 6061-T651 Superior Blast Performance Improved Strength ArmX® 7085-T711 Plate 7039-T64 6061-T651 Superior AP Ballistic Performance Superior Strength ArmX® 6055-T651 Plate 6061-T6 Superior AP Ballistic Performance Superior Strength ArmX® 5456-H151 Plate 5083-H131 Superior Strength Improved Blast & Ballistic Performance Applications ArmX® alloys were developed to replace armor alloys 5083-H131, 6061-T651 and 7039-T64 in applications requiring improved strength, blast, ballistic and/or corrosion performance. ArmX® solutions are ideal for armor vehicle applications where lightweight, high performing armor ballistics and blast protection is required or warranted. Specific applications for land vehicles include armor underbody blast shields, roof/side panels, window frames, wheels, hatches/doors, turrets and gunner protection kits. The machining and fabrication characteristics of ArmX® products are nearly identical to those of previous generation alloys. It is recommended that customers work with Alcoa to select the best ArmX® alloy to meet specified requirements.
