Fellow Members and Friends of SPWLA - New Orleans Chapter,
Last month Alvin Chan with Shell delivered a highly informative presentation of 'The Role of Shear Failure
on Stress Characterization' at the Holiday Inn Downtown on January 16th, 2014 which was extremely well
received.
This month, Mathew Dennis Rowe with Halliburton will be presenting on February 20th 2014 at the Holiday
Inn on the "Advanced Instrumentation and Chemical Characterization Utilization for Well Monitoring,
Mineralogy and Fluid Analysis by Mud loggers". Please come and join us for this informative talk and make

Professional Experience:
 February 2012 – Present, Scientific Advisor - Surface Data Logging, Halliburton
My primary responsibility is advanced gas service development including patents, research and
development, data handling techniques, software and hardware. My responsibilities also include advanced
gas service customer interaction and day-to-day operations. Secondary responsibilities include new
technology development, patent development, and technology support.

May 2010 – February 2012, Logging Geologist, LaserStrat, EAGLE - Surface Data Logging, Halliburton
My responsibilities included sample catching, surface data logging, development of technical knowledge of
LaserStrat and X-ray fluorescence (XRF), operating, training, and maintaining Spectro Xepos XRF
instrumentation for rig operations, and general EAGLE operations. I have also been involved in worked on
research into determination of best practices for gas chromatography-total hydrocarbon analysis and proper
solvent selection for extraction of hydrocarbons from cuttings during logging operations. For the Eagle and
Constant Volume Extractor (CVE), my responsibilities were onsite service development and methods.
