for Australian teachers, tutors and other allied professionals.
Multisensory Structured Language [MSL] Associate Course Description:
The Associate MSL professional development course provides instruction based on
the Orton Gillingham approach, a phonetic, linguistics based, structured and
multisensory approach for teaching reading and spelling. It is a systematic and
cumulative approach involving intensive reinforcement for optimum long-term results.
MSL can be used in inclusive setting, small groups and one to one with children,
teens and adults. This course includes a self-paced and guided practicum. MSL
lessons, diagnostic tools for selection, pre and post monitoring are included. The
Associate course also includes relevant required readings to ensure that trainees are
well informed on current scientific and educational research in the areas of literacy,
language and dyslexia.
Suitable Applicants: This course is open to suitably qualified teachers, tutors,
speech and language pathologists, psychologists, teacher aides and others
interested in multisensory language instruction. This course is suitable for parents
and participants with little or no previous Orton Gillingham based training.
IMSLE Pre-Requisite for MSL Accreditation: Bachelor Degree or Equivalent
Recognition of MSL Training: Upon successful completion of the course trainees
can qualify for professional MSL accreditation with the Australian Dyslexia
Association. Professional Associate Membership ensures that MSL educators and
practitioners are recognised for their commitment to train and effectively educate
those with dyslexia or a related learning difference/difficulty. A certificate is awarded
upon successful course completion with full transcripts of results.
Course Fee Includes: Comprehensive manual and resources, student planning and
diagnostics for student selection, progress and pre and post results, interesting
research based readings and self paced guided practicum to ensure that you are on
track. The practicum and readings can be done anywhere in Australia. The course is
designed for busy teachers and allied professionals so it is flexible and self paced.
Total 2015 Fee: $2,500.00 Includes GST (50% deposit due on acceptance).
Registration via application is required for acceptance into all MSL courses.
