INVITATION TO ESPSS WORKSHOP

INVITATION TO THE THIRD ESPSS WORKSHOP
Location: Maritim Hotel, Cologne (Germany)
Dates: 22nd of May 2014
Following the needs of the European
Space Propulsion Community, a first
workshop on ESPSS was collocated
with the ESA Space Propulsion 2012
Conference at Bordeaux. Due to its
success and on users’ request, ESAESTEC responsible for the ESPSS
development is now preparing a 3rd
ESPSS workshop in co-location with the
Space Propulsion 2014 Conference
covering the following topics:
- Latest improvements of ESPSS v3.0
- Industrial validation and simulations
- Problems’ handling and suggestions
- Next steps towards ESPSS 3.2
To start, a general overview of the European Space Propulsion System
Simulation will be given by ESA and EAI, where the main capabilities of the
EcosimPro tool and the ESPSS libraries will be explained, as well as the status of
the main developments that are currently ongoing in ESPSS.
The floor will be then opened to industrial and researcher institution users
providing the opportunity to present their application and validation test cases
while highlighting strengths and weaknesses of the code. ESA and EAI will be
glad to receive during the problems’ handling session different suggestions and
questions stated by the different
users and attendants, based on their
experience and wishes.
The workshop will end up with a round table session where all the users can
address their new needs for future applications.
The main goal of this meeting is to reinforce the constructive feed-back on the
simulation tool in which the experience of developers and users are put together
to plan future improvements for the EcosimPro/ESPSS tool environment.
Therefore this event is set up as workshop rather than a conference for which
attendees are invited to orient their presentations towards modelling, validations,
extensions and followed approaches of the ESPSS-tool.

ESPSS Tool
The ESPSS (European Space Propulsion System Simulation) is an ESA initiative
that aims to create an European simulation platform for spacecraft and launch
vehicle propulsion systems under transient and steady (design & off-design)
conditions. It consists of a set of libraries based on the EcosimPro simulation
environment, developed jointly with the European space propulsion community.
ESPSS provides a state-of-the-art tool for analysing different phenomena in
space propulsion systems. Currently ESPSS is in development Phase-3; one of
the main goals is to add the capability of computing steady calculations for
Design purposes.
EcosimPro Tool
EcosimPro is a commercial multi-disciplinary modelling and simulation
environment developed by Empresarios Agrupados Internacional (EAI). It
is currently used in several areas such as environmental control and life support
in manned spacecraft, loop heat pipes, power plants systems, gas turbine
systems and spacecraft power systems. EAI is the official distributor of the
ESPSS libraries
