Education
2009–2013 Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography, Universiteit Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands.
2005–2008 Master in Physics, Università degli Studi di Trieste, Trieste, Italy.
Master thesis under the supervision of Claudio Masciovecchio. The work is an experimental study of structural relaxation in liquid water under pressure, mainly using inelastic
UV light scattering at the Elettra synchrotron radiation facility–Basovizza (TS), Italy.
2001–2005 Bachelor in Chemistry, Università degli Studi di Trieste, Trieste, Italy.
Ph.D. thesis
title Impact of Atmospheric Feedbacks on the Stability of the Ocean Thermohaline Circulation
supervisors prof. dr. Sybren Drijfhout and prof. dr. Henk Dijkstra
description The thesis is a study on the relative importance of various feedbacks determining
the stability of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. The main result
of the work, based on numerical and analytical methods, is the strong control
exerted from the southern hemisphere on the overturning circulation, in particular
through freshwater fluxes at the southern end of the Atlantic Ocean.
Present position
2013– Post–doc at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research.
I am presently working with Dr. Hans van Haren on the estimation of turbulent transport
from high–resolution temperature measurements.
