Ms. Brown has a diverse background in stormwater
management and environmental remediation, including
MS4 and construction dewatering NPDES permit
compliance, stormwater BMP design, contaminated soil
management, and Phase I site investigations. Her
environmental sampling skills include contaminated soil,
groundwater, surface water, and water treatment systems.
Ms. Brown has directed field activities, engaged in project
planning, scheduling, and cost estimating, and provided
construction oversight. She also has extensive experience
statistically evaluating and displaying environmental data
using ArcGIS.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
Flatiron Kiewit Joint Venture, Presidio Parkway Project,
San Francisco, California
Engages in construction oversight and field sampling
activities. Oversees field engineer and geologist schedule
and activities. Analyzes and specifies excavated soil
placement and reuse based on soil properties, chemical
constituents, and reuse criteria. Monitors and assesses the
performance of construction dewatering treatment system,
including monthly collection of water samples and submittal
of quarterly monitoring reports to RWQCB. Reviews and
interprets existing federal, state and local regulations
regarding water, soil, and waste.
Kaplan Estates, San Ramon, California
Developed cost controls and cost engineering measures for
slope stability repair. Directed slope repair schedule and
processes. Directed, designed, and specified site safety
measures.
Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet, Benicia, California
Analyzed and reviewed stormwater data for source control
and treatment performance.
US Coast Guard TRACEN, Petaluma, California
Review of stormwater treatment design and system
specifications.
Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT),
Impaired Waters Program, Massachusetts
Assisted MassDOT with their Impaired Waters Program to
comply with NDPES Phase II regulations and completed
Andrea Brown, EIT Page 2
impaired waters assessments on schedule for semi-annual reports to EPA. Tasks included hydrologic
analysis, a field visit, and analysis using the impervious cover (IC) method or TMDL method to identify
IC or pollutant load reduction to meet the target value.
Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (MassDCR), Illicit Discharge Program,
Massachusetts
Field team member responsible for conducting site visits to stormwater features on MassDCR
property. Inventoried stormwater features and sampled and tested flows through system during dry
weather conditions to identify illicit connections. Field water quality testing of flow was performed.
Public Works and Government Services Canada, Peninsula Harbour Sediment Remediation,
Ontario.
Assisted with reporting QA/QC results of laboratory data describing physical and chemical properties
of sand used for sediment capping in Peninsula Harbour.
Bayer, New Martinsville Solid Waste Management Unit 21 Soil Remediation, Massachusetts
Wrote a report summarizing in situ solidification/stabilization bench testing that assessed the ability
of multiple soil-cement mix ratios optimized for hydraulic permeability and unconfined compressive
strength to reduce 2,4-dinitrotoluene and nitrobenzene concentrations in leachate using soil samples
from project site.
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Al Ekeder Lagoon Remediation Project, Jordan
Researched Jordanian standards for the environment focusing on soil remediation. Created data
tables for project report that assessed the treatability of lagoon sludge after laboratory analysis.
Arizona Public Service, Four Corners Power Plant Human Health Risk Assessment, Arizona
Gathered hydrologic data used for human health risk assessment model.
New York Office of General Services, Shoreline Structural Classification, Lake Ontario, New York
Traveled to regional permitting offices to document existing coastal erosion structures along Lake
Ontario shoreline.
Tufts University, Research Assistant, Massachusetts
Performed complex statistical analyses to correlate infectious disease rates to meteorological data in
Australia. Wrote tutorials to train epidemiologists in the use of statistical methods.
University of California, Los Angeles, Engineering Aide, California
Collected and filtered water and soil samples to determine the total suspended solids (TSS) and
nitrate concentrations in a post-fire watershed. Participated in data QA/QC and lab health and safety.
University of Illinois, Urbana-Campaign, Illinois
Used nanoparticles to develop durable superhydrophobic surfaces.
Southern California Edison, Intern, California
Drafted AutoCAD drawings and calculated and wrote a hydrology report.
