Management EFA Industrial Engineers are often tasked with managerial tasks, project management, and financial assessments, as they relate to project budgets, cost calculations, and optimization criteria. The Management EFA prepares students for a career in business management, and allows for completing all requirements for the Minor in Business Administration. Information on the Business Administration Minor can be found at http://tippie.uiowa.edu/undergraduate/documents/programs/businessminor.pdf. The following table explains the requirements for a Business Minor, and how they can be satisfied by undergraduate students in the Industrial Engineering (IE) program. It can be seen that four courses for the Business Minor are satisfied by courses that are required in the EFA and two as part of the GEC. Principles of Microeconomics ECON:1100 (6E:001) and Principles of Macro Economics ECON:1200 (6E:002) can be taken as part of the General Education Component (GEC). The following courses are required for a business minor: Course # MATH:1380 (22M:017) STAT:1030 (22S:008) ECON:1100 (06E:001) ECON:1200 (06E:002) ACCT:2100 (06A:001) ACCT:2200 (06A:002) MGMT:2000 (06J:047) MGMT:2100 (06J:048) MSCI:1500 (06K:050) MKTG:3000 (06M:100) FIN:3000 (06F:100) Total hours required: Required for Business Minor Calculus & Matrix Algebra for Business Statistics for Business Principles of Microeconomics Principles of Macroeconomics Introduction to Financial Accounting Managerial Accounting Introduction to Law Introduction to Management Business Computing Essentials SH 4 Introduction to Marketing Strategy Introductory Financial Management 3 3 35-6 Equivalent for IE Majors MATH:1550 (22M:031) Engineering Mathematics I STAT:2020 (22S:039) Prob & Stat for Engrs Take as part of GEC Take as part of GEC Take as part of EFA Take as part of EFA Take as part of EFA Take as part of EFA ENGR:1300 (059:006) Engineering Problem Solving II Take as part of EFA IE:2500 (056:054) Engineering Economy 3-4 4 4 3 3 3 3 2 SH 4 3 4 4 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 36 The Management EFA schedule accommodating the Business Minor should be designed as shown in the following table.
