The sponsorship deal was
announced this week, and
Fermanagh Herald editor
Maurice Kennedy said the
paper was looking forward to
supporting the groundbreaking
arts festival which is now in its
third year in its current form.
Bringing 50 events and over
5,000 event attendees to the
county, this year’s festival will
take place from September 20
to October 5 2014.
This year’s festival includes

This year’s festival programme can
be found at www.FLive.org.uk.
Fermanagh Arts Festival is a
charitable organisation based in
Enniskillen, founded in 2007.
Initially, the organisation
co-ordinated the bi-annual
Enniskillen Arts Festival and, in
2012, turned it into the annual
Fermanagh Live Festival as it is
now known.
Fermanagh Herald editor
Maurice Kennedy said that
the paper is ‘delighted’ to
partner with the festival for the
upcoming programme:
“Fermanagh Live as a festival
has gone from strength to
strength, especially since it
evolved into an annual festival
in 2012.
“The organisers have been
working on a varied and
accessible programme for
the people of Fermanagh
and further afield and I would
anticipate tremendous interest
in this year’s programme.
“We’ve been watching the
festival’s progress over the past
few years and the many local

people involved deserve a lot
of credit for sticking with it and
making it the success that it is
today. We wish the festival every
success and look forward to
working with the committee
over the coming months.
They’ve put together a brilliant
programme for this year’s
festival and I think we’re all in for
a real treat come September,”
added Mr Kennedy.

WELCOME
FOREWORD
Evelyn Hassard, Chair
Brian D’Arcy C.P.
Welcome to FLive 2014, the 6th celebration of
arts and music in Fermanagh.
I am once again honoured to be Chair of this
ever-expanding and inclusive festival which
aims to bring high-quality and enjoyable
events to our county.
Highlights this year include a much anticipated
recital by the internationally renowned pianist,
Barry Douglas and traditional music from the
legendary Donegal group Altan.
As usual we bring you the best in the West
with a classical programme by old Portorans
Gareth Knox and Kristan Swain, a solo show
by ceramicist Jane Fallis, an exclusive interview
with the Brookeborough-born broadcaster and
photographer Bobbie Hanvey and a new film
featuring Ciaran McMenamin.
Come cruising with a guided tour of our island
town or hop on a bus for an exclusive preview
of our art and photographic exhibitions. There’s
Jazz on the menu at the Enniskillen Hotel, and
cool cabaret at Franco’s restaurant. Celebrate
National Poetry Day with our poetry readings on
the hour “From Dawn to Dusk.”
As always, we offer a full programme of ‘hands
on’ events for children including Cinemagic, a
Circus School and a Carnival parade. For young
musicians we’ve arranged workshops for strings
and brass plus a chance to perform with The Big
Brass Swing band.
In conclusion, I must thank our main supporters,
Fermanagh District Council, the Arts Council of
Northern Ireland and the many local businesses
who, because of their generous help, make this
festival possible. See you there!
Book Tickets: www.FLive.org.uk or 028 6632 5440
In days gone by Fermanagh people were shy
about promoting what is great and unique
about our county. In recent years a start has
been made. We have magnificent scenery, an
unspoiled countryside, a wonderful tradition of
art in all its forms.
The beauty of Fermanagh has been recognised
by others. The G8 Conference was the catalyst
for self-promotion. It is noticeable too that many
local areas have developed first-class community
centres and through them communities have
come together to take pride in their own locality.
I am delighted Fermanagh Live is now promoting,
in a vibrant and professional way, all that is good
about Fermanagh’s unique culture. I wish this
sixth festival well and I notice that it truly has
something for everyone.
During the festival you will be able to enjoy the
best of traditional music, drama and a wide
variety of visual arts.
There will be workshops for children so that they
can learn to appreciate their heritage with pride.
Local talent will take centre stage, though it
will not be entirely introspective. We will have
the best of international talent as well. We will
welcome our visitors knowing that we can learn
from them and that they will learn from us. This
will be a lively and inclusive festival for the whole
family.
I wish the Fermanagh Live Festival the very best
of luck and I encourage everyone to support and
publicise this unique festival.
