Returning Board members: • Severin Filek, Design Austria, Austria • Kitty De Jong, BNO, Holland • Michal Stefanowski, SPFP, Poland • Anna Whicher, Design Wales, UK Newly • • • • • elected Board members: Deborah Dawton, Design Business Association, UK (Secretary) John Mathers, Design Council, UK Jan Stavik, Norwegian Design Council, Norway (Treasurer) Judit Varhelyi, Hungarian Design Council, Hungary Isabelle Vérilhac, Cité du Design, France The eight new Members of BEDA are: • Estonian Design Centre, Estonia • CLICKNL, Holland • German Design Council, Germany • International Design Center Berlin, Germany • RRA LUR, Slovenia • SEMEK, Cyprus • Surgenia Technological Centre of Andalusian Design, Spain • Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode, Belgium Isabel Roig (Barcelona Centre de Disseny, Spain) will complete her term as BEDA President in June 2015, at which point Vice President, Robin Edman of the Swedish Industrial Design Foundation (SVID), Sweden, will become President. The Bureau of European Design Associations (BEDA) BEDA exists to ensure permanent liaison between its Members and the authorities of the European Union in order to communicate and promote the value of design and innovation to the European economy. BEDA was founded in 1969 when there was little knowledge and poor awareness of the impact that designers could have in business. Today, BEDA boasts 45 members from 24 member states in Europe. Members can be design promotion centres and other publicly funded organisations that promote design nationally or regionally as well as professional and trade associations for designers from across Europe.
