2. The Bureau of European Design Associations (BEDA) BEDA exists to ensure permanent
liaison between its Members and the authorities of the European Union in order to
communicate and promote the value of design and innovation to the European
economy. BEDA was founded in 1969 when there was little knowledge and poor
awareness of the impact that designers could have in business. Today, BEDA boasts 45
members from 24 member states in Europe. Members can be design promotion centres
and other publicly funded organisations that promote design nationally or regionally as
well as professional and trade associations for designers from across Europe.
