United States patent US patent – No: US 7,923,005 B2, Australian patent – No. AU
2007216174 B2 and Indian patent - No.250779 were granted to Indian Institute of
Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, (ICAR, DARE, Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi)
and Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi for an
organic microbial consortia formulation containing versatile bio-agents namely Pseudomonas
fluorescens and
Trichoderma harzianum (Innovators: Dr. M. S. Rao & Dr. N.
Ramachandran).
These bio-agents are most eco-friendly microbes which are helpful in increasing the plant
growth in a sustainable manner. As the formulation is organic in nature these bio-agents establish
very well in the soil eco-systems.
These bio-agents do lot of good to the society. These bio-agents ameliorate the toxic
effects of chemical residues in soil eco-systems. Utilization of these organic preparation in Indian
agriculture can reduce the water pollution to a very great extent.
It will help in maintaining the ecological balance in the nature. All these bio-agents are
natural and not man made. Application of this organic formulation can increase the growth of the
all most all the crops in a significant manner.
Use of the bio-formulation can increase the plant resistance against the disease causing
fungal, bacterial and nematode pathogens. This formulation is highly useful for the management
plant health in crops such as capsicum, tomato, gherkins, water melon, musk melon, okra,
gerbera and carnations grown under protected conditions.
Use of this formulation over a period of time can develop disease suppressive soils and can
lead to the sustainable production of agricultural crops. In this way this formulation is also useful
for developing organic soils when used along with the farm waste, farm yard manure, vermincompost or neem cake or any other organic materials.

Formulation for seed treatment:
This formulation can be used as a seed treatment or seed dressing agent.
Practically any seed of the crop can be treated with this formulation.
Dosage – 15 to 20 grams of formulation /kg of seed
Effects of seed treatment:
It will help in producing the healthy seedlings
It will help in producing the vigorous seedlings
It will help in the management of seed borne pathogens sticking on the surface
Because of ISR ( Induced Systemic Resistance) effect, it can help in the management of

Formulation for substrate treatment:
This formulation can be used for treatment of coco-peat (substrate) in which seedlings are grown
