GWAR/GWE Petition for Fulfillment Form [PDF]

Instructions
Students who have met the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR) and
have a GWE hold must complete the Petition for Fulfillment of GWAR Form. Official
Transcripts, Certification Letter or Test Results as requested below must be provided. The
Petition for GWE fulfillment Form will not be processed without the proper certifying
documents.
Send the Petition for Fulfillment of GWAR Form along with the certifying documentation
to the School of Nursing via mail.

The School of Nursing will forward the Petition for Fulfillment of GWAR Form along with
the proper certifying documentation to the Testing Office for processing. Students who
have a GWE hold on their record and by pass the School of Nursing by sending
applications directly to the Testing Office will not have their GWE holds removed. The
School of Nursing will not remove GWE holds until the student can provide sufficient
evidence that the complete form and proper certifying documents were received by the
Testing Office.
The Testing Office will contact the student once a decision has been reached.

After reviewing the University Catalogue, I believe I have met the GWAR requirement in
the following manner, (please select one of the following options):
□ An earned bachelor’s degree from another CSU campus in 1984 or later.
- Original or True Copy of official transcript is attached.
□ Completion of the GWAR at another CSU campus in 1984 or later and prior to admission to
CSUDH.
- Original or True Copy of official transcript (indicating GWAR is met) or certification letter
is attached.
□ A grade of B or higher in an upper division composition course (equivalent to English 350 at
CSUDH) taken at another university prior to admission to CSUDH.
Lower division writing courses (e.g. Freshman English,) upper division literature or
discipline-specific courses, and specialized courses in business, technical, report, or
creative writing, among other courses, are NOT acceptable.
- Original or True Copy of official transcript with applicable course highlighted is attached,
along with copy of that university’s catalogue description of course.
□ A score of 4.0 or higher on the Analytical Writing Analysis of the GMAT.
- Original or True Copy of test results is attached.
□ A score of 4.0 or higher on the Analytical Writing section of the GRE.
