The University of California, Irvine The 40th Annual Meeting of The Israel Society of Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery 5 INTERNATIONAL FACULTY Jian Farhadi, MD Mr Farhadi is a consultant plastic surgeon and director of the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital London. He trained in Switzerland and London, where he developed a specialisation in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast, including microvascular breast reconstruction. Jian is the founder of BRA Foundation, a registered charity to raise awareness on the options of breast reconstruction. 6 The 40th Annual Meeting of The Israel Society of Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery INTERNATIONAL FACULTY Lawrence J. Gottlieb, MD Lawrence J. Gottlieb, MD, FACS, is an internationally known reconstructive plastic surgeon with clinical and research interests in reconstructive microsurgery, the care of patients with burn injuries, difficult wounds and complex reconstructive needs as well as challenging clinical medical and surgical ethical problems. After graduating Penn State Medical School in 1977, Dr. Gottlieb obtained his general surgery training at Yale and then went on to complete a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Southern California. He joined the faculty at the University of Chicago in 1984 and is currently Professor of Surgery, the Director of the University of Chicago Burn and Complex Wound Center, Program Director of the Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship and faculty member of the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. He works with many different multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive state-of-art treatment to a wide variety of patients of all ages. He has received many honors and awards including: ‘Best Doctors’ by US News & World Report, The Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons ‘Physician Recognition Award’, Department of Surgery ‘Excellence in Teaching Award’, The Section of Plastic Surgery ‘Robert Parsons Golden Apple Teaching Award’ and the University of Chicago Biologic Science Division ‘Distinguished Clinician Senior Award’. The 40th Annual Meeting of The Israel Society of Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery 7 INTERNATIONAL FACULTY Simeon Wall, Jr, MD Simeon Wall Jr, MD, is an aesthetic plastic surgeon in private practice in Shreveport, LA. He earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin, and his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Wall Jr completed his combined General Surgery and Plastic Surgery residency at Stanford University Medical Center, where he met and trained with his future wife and partner plastic surgeon, Dr. Holly Wall. Upon the completion of their training at Stanford, the Drs.’ Wall joined Dr. Simeon Wall Sr, to complete Dr. Wall Jr’s lifelong desire to practice with his father. Dr. Wall Jr, his wife Dr. Holly Wall, and his father Dr. Simeon Wall Sr, are all plastic surgeons who specialize in cosmetic surgery, practicing together at The Wall Center for Plastic Surgery, a fixture in Louisiana for over forty years. In 2009, they completed construction of their full-service aesthetic center- a 17,000 square foot facility housing a State, AAAASF, and Medicare-certified Ambulatory Surgery Center, comprehensive laser center & medispa, extended stay guest suites, private fitness center, and plastic surgery clinic. Dr. Wall Jr’s practice is focused on primary and revisionary breast enhancement & body contouring, with an interest in facial rejuvenation and rhinoplasty. Dr. Wall Jr is credited with the development and refinement of SAFELipo®, which is a non-thermal, multi-step, comprehensive body contouring process incorporating liposuction, fat redistribution (fat shifting), and fat grafting. SAFELipo minimizes bleeding, tissue trauma, and contour deformities while maximizing smooth & even fat removal, and can be utilized with all excisional procedures safely and effectively. Dr. Wall Jr originally developed SAFELipo as an effective technique for use in revision liposuction and correcting contour deformities, but found SAFELipo to deliver superior outcomes for all body-shaping procedures, as many other plastic surgeons now have throughout the world. In addition to his contributions in the advancement of primary and revisionary liposuction & body contouring, Dr. Wall Jr’s technique of full abdominoplasty with circumferential SAFELipo is widely accepted, as is his work in combining multiple procedures safely in an outpatient setting. The majority of Dr. Wall Jr’s practice consists of breast & body combination surgeries, including “mommy makeovers”, simultaneous short-scar mastopexy/breast augmentation, and simultaneous SAFELipo with fat shifting/ fat grafting of the face, breasts, and body. 8 The 40th Annual Meeting of The Israel Society of Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery Dr. Wall Jr, currently serves as a Traveling Professor and is on the Board of Directors for The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), also serving as co-Chair of Premier Global Hot Topics and co-Chair of the Innovative Procedures Committee. Dr. Wall Jr is co-Chair of the Teaching Course Committee for The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and the President of the Louisiana Society of Plastic Surgeons. He serves as Gratis Faculty in the Department of Surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, has published multiple manuscripts and book chapters, and presented over two hundred regional, national, and international lectures & courses. Dr. Wall, Jr., is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr. Wall, Jr., serves on numerous committees for the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Shreveport Medical Society. Dr. Wall, Jr., maintains membership in Stanford University's Plastic Surgery Alumni Association, Zedplast, and he maintains licensure in Louisiana and California. In addition to his practice, Dr. Wall, Jr., is active in ReSurge, a philanthropic organization that recruits plastic surgeons to perform cleft lip and palate surgery for children in countries where they would otherwise lack access to plastic surgeons. He has volunteered his services in China, Peru, Mexico, and Brazil. Dr. Wall Jr also volunteers as a Medical Investigator for the parishes of Webster and Bossier, serves as a Deputy Marshal for Bossier City, LA, and is an avid husband, father, and tennis player.
