Alicia C. McDonald is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Medicine, Epidemiology and Prevention at Hofstra North Shore-Long Island Jewish (LIJ) School of Medicine and a Researcher of Epidemiology at North Shore-LIJ Health System in Great Neck, NY. She received her MPH in International Health and Development from Tulane University, Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh, and post-doctoral training in Cancer Epidemiology from Columbia University. Her primary research interests are prostate cancer risk and outcomes and infectious causes of cancer such as Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) and Human papillomavirus (HPV) in medically disadvantaged populations. Currently, she is conducting studies on prostate cancer risk in U.S. men and HHV-8 and Kaposi’s sarcoma risk in HIV-positive and negative patients in South Africa. Dr. McDonald is a candidate for a faculty position in the future Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
