among the high precision
FORKARDT standards.
Founding the company in
Du
̈ sseldorf in 1923 Paul
Forkardt laid the foundation
stone for a combine that is
now operating worldwide.
Its members include not
only the two FORKARDT
companies in Europe
(Germany and France), but
also an US and Chinese
company and a partner
company in Japan.
Besides their links to one
of the world’s most modern
CAD networks all companies of the Group run their
own design divisions.
As a measure to eliminate
wasted research and to
channel capacities each
location focuses on a
range of technologies that
are produced in part in joint
production areas.
Due to the progressive globalization
within the production industry it becomes
more and more necessary to offer
well-established production technologies
and procedures on a world-wide basis.
FORKARDT because of its global network
assures our clients worldwide the optimal
workholding solutions and the services they
need for the smooth flow of their production
processes.
Its unique combination of technology,
experience, and entrepreneurial potential
makes FORKARDT one of the world’s most
highly demanded providers of high quality
workholding solutions developed and
supervised by a team of highly qualified
engineers and experts.
The innovative developments produced
by our House have been setting standards in
workholding technology for decades.
It all began with an ingenious idea in the early
twentieth century:
Paul Forkardt developed his famous F type
hand-operated chuck that even today – with
the corresponding advancements – ranks
As we are constantly striving to improve our products, the dimensions and
specifications in this catalogue cannot always represent the latest state of the
art; they are therefore given as an indication only and are not binding.

The 3QLC/K Power Chuck
QLC / K - series in considerably improved excecution
Advantages:
• Best possible clamping forces
obtained through patented multiple
jaw guides
• Base jaw profile providing exceptionally long support for greater stability
and precision during internal and
external clamping
• Minimal loss of lubricating grease
through gaps and undercuts
The unique advantages of the
multitooth jaw guiding are confirmed
in the complete series of the
power chuck QLC/K.
The 3QLC power chuck as an
innovative development of the NHF
chuck system has been manufactured
by FORKARDT since the middle of the
1990s years and has been
improved continuously. In the meantime,
the repeatedly patented QLC has set a
market standard for power chucks.
T HE S ERIES QLC/K
As a universal chuck which can be used
for nearly all turning applications, the
QLC chuck can be used for heavy duty machining of disc shaped and cylindrical work pieces
as well as for the sensitive dressing machining
of easily mouldable work pieces.

Power chucks QLC/K series
and variants for all types of applications in turning operations
Variants of the series:
With the 3 QLC-KING SIZE FORKARDT has introduced a chuck to the
market with a through hole bore of 77 up to 168 mm. The ratio
between the outer diameter and the bore of this chuck is unmatched.
The most outstanding advantage of the new QLC-KS is the ability
to grip work pieces of dimensions which previously were not possible
(approx. 40% larger through hole bore than comparable chucks).
QLC-KS
(King Size)
In some cases when clamping work pieces come with shoulders and
large variations in diameters the standard chuck jaw stroke is not sufficient.
This problem can be solved with the QLC-LS range of chucks, which
have an extended jaw stroke of up to 13mm.
These chucks are available
in 2- or 3-jaw designs.
QLC-LS
(Long Stroke)
Last year FORKARDT introduced the newly designed power chuck
QLC-AG, which can be used for high precision compensating or
concentric clamping.
The pull-back action assures positive location of the work piece onto
the centre mounted within the chuck. The centre housings are easily
interchangeable and finely adjustable. Compensation is easily
provided even when operating at high clamping forces.
QLC-AG
(Compensating clamping)
The newest member to the QLC range of chucks is the QLC-KT,
which was introduced to our customers during METAV 2004 in Dusseldorf
for the first time.
It is designed as a closed centre variation for heavy duty machining
and is laid out to produce the highest gripping forces whilst maintaining
the optimum accuracy.

High-Precision Power Chucking System
3OVEKAV 180 for Turning and Grinding applications
The new retractable compensating
3OVEKAV 180 power chuck has been
derived from the well proven OVEK
precision power chuck line.
The OVEK precision chuck is primarily
used for precision grinding of sensitive
work pieces. There is a growing market
for cutting machines offering hard
turning and grinding on the same
machine.
These machines require a solid compact
chucking system capable to accurately
machine the parts over a wide rpm
range. In addition, modern metal cutting
technologies demand minimal cycle
times precluding multiple chucking.
The new 3OVEKAV 180 chuck,
because of the 35 mm axial chuck
retraction, meets these requirements
by featuring multiple machining
operations in one workholding device.
Several 3OVEKAV 180 chucks are in
successful commercial service since 2008.
