Pan IIM Alumni Startup Accelerator Program 2014
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) in association with the Nadathur S. Raghavan Centre for
Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) will conduct a Pan IIM Alumni Startup Accelerator Program (PIASA) at the IIMB
campus from April 9 to May 2, 2014. This unique 21-day residential program is designed to enable immediate startups by the graduating alumni of all IIMs by converting their business plans into a viable business with personalized
access to potential funding, legal advice, infrastructure support, faculty advise, business mentors & alumni networks.
The PIASA program is designed for graduating or recent IIM alumni. The contents and interactions of this practice
oriented course cover all requirements for an immediate startup that are typically not covered in an IIM curriculum.
Attendance of 90% classroom sessions, submission of a concisely written Business Action Plan and its presentation in
class, is required to formally complete the program and receive the program certificate from IIMB. Participants who
complete the program can also opt to register as IIMB Alumni with access to the international IIMB alumni network.
The Pan IIM Alumni Start-up Accelerator Program 2014 will be inaugurated on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 9.00 a.m.
Sessions will be held from April 9 to 29 from 9.00 am to 1.15 pm. Weekday afternoons are for business surveys, field
studies and meetings while weekends are for one-on-one meetings with mentors and group visits to entrepreneurs.
Participants present their Business Action Plans on April 30/May 1 and the program closes with a valedictory on May
2. They can optionally meet mentors on May 3 and stay on at the IIMB hostels till May 31 by paying nominal charges.
The PIASA program has 45 sessions covering a wide range of practical issues relevant to startups, including Crafting
Entrepreneurial Vision, Developing your “Minimum Viable Product”, Lean Startup, Frugal Marketing Techniques, Business
Model Canvas, Validating Plans, Pricing & Promotion Strategies, Bootstrapping & Outsourcing, Financing Strategies, Startup
Negotiations, Leveraging Social Media, Startup Websites, Online Linkages, Monetizing Networks, Communicating with Startup Ecosystem, Startup Recruiting, Startup Evangelism, Legal Structure and Taxation. Apart from IIMB faculty, sessions
will be led by nine seasoned practitioners, entrepreneurs and investors who have mentored many successful startups.
Applicants must fill the attached application form and mail it with a one-page resume and a one-page business plan
brief. Graduating students must enclose a copy of their IIM photo identity card and a cover letter from PGP Chair or
Placement Chair stating that the applicant has opted out of IIM campus placements to start an enterprise. Recent IIM
alumni must apply with a cover letter on their startup plans and a copy of their IIM Diploma. A registration fee of
Rs.1000 paid through a multi-city cheque drawn on Indian Institute of Management Bangalore must be enclosed – it will
be cashed for admitted participants (non-refundable) or returned. Admissions are confirmed only on first-come-firstserved basis for eligible applications and if all seats are filled, confirmations will be made only against cancellations.
The program fee (inclusive of service tax) as stated below covers all program activities, materials, refreshments
between sessions and post session lunch on class session days. It also includes single bed accommodation in a non-a/c
room in the IIMB girls/boys hostel on campus for the entire program period April 8, 2014 (forenoon) to May 3, 2014
(afternoon). Breakfast and dinner is available at restaurants on or around IIMB campus and is not covered in the
