A. JAPAN
MARKET SITUATION
The Yen continues to weaken against US Dollar. The sudden increase in shrimp prices propelled by larger
uptake by USA and China, shortfall in production from Thailand and Indonesia and the weaker Yen is compelling
buyers from making firm orders despite chronic shortage of shrimp in domestic market. They anticipate poor
sales in retail segment as the price spirals up. Due to less stock and good consumption during O-bon holidays
and expected further demand for autumn season, domestic price is still steady and some times like Argentine
shrimp, B.T and Vannamei etc. have shown positive trend this week. Big size of B.T is in good demand
especially in Osaka and West region, while Vannamei enjoys constant demand in Tokyo area. Certain retail
stores offer discount rates also to woo in consumers.

MARKET SITUATION
21-25 and 26-30 count Latin American HLSO white shrimp are full steady to firm with a few Mexican farmed
offerings noted. 31-35 and 36-40 count shrimp are full steady with some higher offerings noted on 31-35 count.
Smaller count shrimp are about steady to steady with a few lower offerings noted. 13-15 count Asian HLSO
white shrimp adjust lower. 16-20 count are about steady; the balance of the market is generally steady at listed
levels. Overseas replacement offerings are generally reported firm.
13-15 and 21-25 count P&D tail-on white shrimp are full steady to firm. The balance of the market is steady at
listed levels. 21-25 count P&D tail off shrimp are also firm. Overseas Asian offerings in most categories continue
firm. Large count Asian HLSO black tiger are full steady to firm. The balance of the market in remaining
categories is generally steady at listed levels.
