Although it’s his first job, he slipped into the shoes of a professional with ease. How was the term Mythri coined? In March 2013, Sports Association of JSS (SAJ) committee was formed. Together, we decided to name our event "Mythri" meaning friendship. It signifies a friendly interaction between the participants. When was the sports event initiated? I joined JSSATEN as Physical Education Director in September 2011. I was in-charge of it in March 2012. What changes have you seen over the past few years? When I first came here, the grounds were not adequate professionally. Now, we have professional grade grounds and courts. Students and staff together form a committee in charge of planning, organising and advertising "Mythri". Any highlights this year? A new game was introduced this year, Kabaddi which was much popular, with 10 participating teams of 8 boys. Also this time volleyball and football events were separate for girls and boys. How enthusiastic was the student teacher response? Students participated very enthusiastically; this year we had the highest number of registrations. I would have liked to see more participation from faculty. Which was your favourite match? The cricket semifinal of faculty, between EC and EE department was the best match according to me. Chasing 70 something runs, EC faculty won in just 3 overs. Any sporting event you'd like to include in the coming years? I'd like to make Mythri an inter-college competition. Also we could have some fun, entertaining games like darts, shooting, hit the target and so on. Best experiance as the Ph.Ed.D? With the table tennis team of the college, to IIT Kanpur in 2013 is one of my many favourite experiences. Would u like to give our students any message? Participation in sports provides life lessons like team work, self discipline, and fortitude. I'm proud of our students' dedication towards sports and wish to see such enthusiasm always. A word to the seniors; give your Juniors too a chance to win! UNLEASH THE SPEED Being the fastest was the prize for grabs in every track event in Mythri 2014. Whether 100m, 200m, 400m or relay, the sportspersons of JSS shone. New stars were born as the final year batch passed them the baton. TAKE THE BEST SHOT The appearance of the game of shotput is truly misleading; its not just a test of momentary power, but a test of patience and true strength of the individual. 3 TO TANGO Running lopsided, trying not to stumble it's a race to the end. The winning sigh is as unique an experience as the game itself. THREE POINTER The perfect mix of precision, poise, strength and skill is possessed by teams playing this smooth game Basketball is a treat to the eyes. QUICK SINGLES One of the most popular team events ever seen. Classic clash of bat versus ball. The students and staff both mesmerized the crowd with their skills. BURNING THE WHEELS For the first time in Mythri, an event that raised the testosterone levels and gave the participants the thrill of a real track race. GUARD THE YARD This year blew the whistle for the first Girls Football Team event and the so-called novices left spectators in awe. Boys team continued to enthrall with their swift moves and cheers of jubilance with each goal. QUICK OR DEAD With Mythri-2014, this game reached new standards. This year’s champion team seem to have taken out a leaf out of a Bollywood script. Fans saw nothing less than a complete overhaul of the opposing teams. SERVES AND SMASHES Badminton is one sport where one can find much enthusiasic participation whether boy or girl and Mythri 2014 was no exception to it. The combination of serves and smashes from both sides of the net really invoked the frenzy of the folks. ...AND WE ALL FALL DOWN Its a game that embodies the true spirit of sports. The joy of it is balanced on both sides; smiles of relief on a win and laughter on losing and falling on your friends! JUST GOT SERVED This sport has long allowed both participants and spectators to enjoy the sport and its art without feigning. Mythri witnessed the same excitement with each serve on the court of Volleyball. A TENNIS TALE The speed and flexibility showcased by the students on the ping pong table was simply amazing. Incidently the sportsman ranked 10 in Indian TT, Ratan Kirti was present which raised the bar of the game to unparalleled heights. MIGHTIEST OF ALL The competitors of the Arm wrestling event were engaged in a scintillating contest of power, that made spectators anxiously wait for the telltale "thud" that marked the emergence of a winner. SUPER STRIKERS The frantic clicking of the striker and the coins on the carrom board made the audience cognize what every competitor coveted in the Carrom events of Mythri 2014. CLASH OF CLANS The braniacs of JSS showed extraordinary mind tactics on the chess board. The mind boggling strategies adopted by students for victory were a good indication of their focus on the game.
