What is VTEC?

CCI VTEC is seeking employers to provide guaranteed jobs.
We will support you through the entire programme.

We work with you to identify jobs for Indigenous Australian job
seekers and establish the training requirements for these jobs.

CCI VTEC ensures Indigenous Australian job seekers
have the skills needed for the job with training tailored to
your specifications.
„
You’ll have engaged job seekers with a genuine interest in the
field work they are employed for.
„
We support you and the participants for their first 26 weeks in
employment to achieve long-term employment outcomes.
„Our service is at no cost to you.
„
CCI VTEC is complementary to other Australian Government
employment initiatives such as the Indigenous Wage Subsidy.

CCI VTEC ensures Indigenous Australian job
seekers have the skills needed for the job with
training tailored to your specifications.
What is the process
CCI will develop and implement a recruitment and training
programme, in partnership with you, the employer.
Indicative programme stages:
Step 1 - Guaranteed job identified
„Employer signs letter of intent to commit to jobs
Step 2 - Work readiness programme
„Generic life and work readiness skills, including:
– Workplace health and safety (safety shares);
– Literacy and numeracy; and
– Team work and communication/interpersonal skills.
Step 3 - Workplace practice
(designed in conjunction with employer)
„Employer induction
„Work experience/site tour
Step 4 - Vocational specific skills
„Ongoing literacy and numeracy training
„Industry and job specific vocational skills
Step 5 - Employment placement
„Participant commences employment
„
Sign up as trainee/apprentice if relevant (Apprenticeships
Australia/CCI Apprenticeship Solutions)
„
Ongoing mentoring support for participants will be provided
by CCI VTEC for 26 weeks.
„
Cultural awareness training and ongoing employer/supervisor
support for 26 weeks.
„Employers may be eligible for incentive/retention payments.
Programme options to meet
everyone’s needs
„
Full-time on-call CCI Indigenous Australian mentors, both
female and male.
„
Mentor support and ongoing engagement with employee’s
family and community.
„
Mentor and cultural awareness support to employers and
supervisors. Telephone, email and in-person, as required.
A traineeship or apprenticeship pathway may also be an option –
CCI Apprenticeships Australia (A.A.):
„A.A. is a Group Training Organisation.
„
A.A. employs the participant directly; taking on all the
employer’s responsibilities and obligations.
„
You host the participant and give them the “on the job”
skills required.
„
You have the added advantage of A.A. advisers who manage
the training and development.
CCI Apprenticeship Solutions:
„
An Australian Apprenticeship Centre, contracted by
Australian Government.
„You employ the participant.
„
CCI Apprenticeship Solutions guides you and the participant
through the traineeship/apprenticeship pathway, but does not
manage training or progression.
„
Provides assistance in accessing Australian Government
incentives that may be available.
CCI Mentoring Solutions services are at hand to provide
additional support to any participant signed up to a traineeship or
apprenticeship pathway.
Indigenous Wage Subsidy
(IWS)
Employers who wish to employ Indigenous Australians can get
financial help from the Australian Government. This help is
available through the Indigenous Wage Subsidy (IWS) programme.
The IWS is an incentive paid to employers when they employ
eligible Indigenous Australians on a continuing basis.
The programme provides a wage subsidy to employers of eligible
What funding is available?
The IWS is paid after the new employee has been in the job for 13
and 26 weeks. The amount of money paid to the employer is:
„
up to $4400 (including GST) for ongoing full-time positions of
35 hours or more per week
„
up to $2200 (including GST) for ongoing part-time positions of
15 hours or moreper week.
An additional retention bonus (if eligible) may also be available,

$1100 for full time positions or $550 for part time positions
funds to cover training costs.

Employers may also claim reimbursement of up to $550 in Career
Development Assistance (including GST) for eligible employees
who enrol in an accredited training course, obtain a ticket (such as
Stop/Go), or a Licence (such as forklift), within their first 26 weeks
in a job.

information sessions for participants, organised by CCI VTEC.

participants by providing a supportive workplace and
post-placement support via a workplace Buddy or Mentor system,
which CCI VTEC can assist you with.
