CUGIR - SC UZINA MECANICA CUGIR SA armament and ammunition producer is a brand
created in the course of time. Placed in Transilvania, in
the city carrying the same name, the factory continued to
be at all times, the soul of the community.
Uzina Mecanica Cugir represents a veritable
industrial tradition, with a history lasting more than 200
years, since 1799, the foundation year of the steel
production workshops, belonging to one of the first
metallurgical factories in Transilvania. The reasons
which led that time Austro-Hungarian authorities to set up
this factory in Cugir were mining practiced around the
settlement and favorable natural conditions. The quality
of the steel produced here was appreciated both inside and
outside the Austro-Hungarian Empire borders. The
expansion of the facility began in 1926, through the
construction of new production halls. The war led to the
militarization of the plant which, at that time, was
managed by specialists in the field of modern weapons
manufacturing. Parts and assemblies for artillery
techniques were produced during the cooperation with
the London company "Vickers Armstrong Ltd." The
takeover by the Czechoslovak firm "Zbrojowka-Brno"
led to a redesign of the production for infantry weapons
and ammunition, based on documentation license. During
the Second World War, the German concern "Herman
Goring" took over the company's shares. The
accumulation of high experience and high technical
potential ensured the success in designing and putting
into production the first Romanian-designed weapon,
9mm caliber submachine gun, Parabellum, "Oriţa" type.
Further industrial developments in Cugir are related to the
plant, creating over the time a well-known
brand named CUGIR
Today, SC Uzina Mecanica Cugir SA owns the
investment "Manufacturing modernization of
ammunition and infantry weapons by assimilating NATO
products." By purchasing the manufacturing lines for
NATO products, the company has a technological base
comparable to renowned manufacturers in the defence
industry. The procurement of equipment and technology
related to the manufacture of Boxer anti-corrosive
primers and infantry ammunition 5.56 x 45, 7.62 x 51 and
12.7 x 99 mm calibers leads to a high level of automation,
low energy consumption, special accuracy in production,
high quality finished product, flexibility, high labor
productivity. From a strictly technical point of view, the
company acquires modern technologies for brass case
and non-corrosive ammunition (NATO specific), that
opens a wide perspective concerning subsequent
assimilation of other types of ammunition.

boats, mobile and stationary equipment. It is presented here on T 119 Vehicle (Boat) Mount. The mount can fold the
legs and can be used on the ground. Designed to combat the lightly armored targets, fire power and manpower of the

are used with armour-piercing incendiary bullets API, armour-piercing tracer bullets API-T and other types of

CUGIR
OPERATION
The machine gun is a gas operated, belt fed, air
cooled machine gun that fires from an open bolt and in
automatic mode only. The gas piston and chamber are
located below the barrel; the gas piston is of the long stroke
type, and is attached to the bolt carrier. The gas chamber is
fitted with a gas regulator that can be adjusted. The bolt, of
rectangular cross-section, locks into the receiver with two
outwardly pivoting flaps. These flaps are pushed outwards
from the bolt to lock it by the enlarged firing pin, which in
turn is operated by the vertical projection on the bolt carrier.
The rear of the receiver houses two spring buffers, one for
the bolt and one for the bolt carrier.
SAFETY
The machine gun has a safety lever, with two
positions:
- safe
- automatic fire
SPARE BARRELS
The heavy barrel is finned for better cooling, and is
fitted with a large muzzle brake. The barrel can be detached
from the weapon. It is screwed into the front of the receiver,
and then fixed there by the cross-bolt, which is also screwed
in place.
FEED
The ammunition feed is via non-disintegrating
steel belts, from the left side. Belt feed uses simplified
slider-type belt traction unit, powered through the swinging
arm. Spent cartridges are ejected down through openings in
the receiver and bolt carrier. Link belts have 50 rounds and
feed from a 100 rds. belt box, fixed on the mount. The
machine gun is fitted with dual spade grips at the back of the
receiver, and a dual trigger. Charging handle is also shaped
as a spade grip, and is located horizontally below and
between spade grips.
SIGHTING SYSTEM
The sighting equipment is an open sight adjustable
for range (up to 3500 m in 100 m increments) and windage.
Additional anti-aircraft sights are installed for AA use and a
shoulder support.
MOUNT
The standard mount is a universal setup, which can
be used for both ground and AA roles. This mount consists
of three folding legs, which form a tripod for ground and
AA applications.
Optionally the mount can be fitted with:
- detachable two-wheel base
- armored shield
In the AA role, both wheels and shield will be
detached from the mount.

USE
The T115 Infantry Tripod provides a stable mount for the Heavy Machine Guns, and it allows a higher degree of
accuracy and control. The tripod assembly provides a stable and relatively lightweight base. The tripod may be
extended and folded without difficulty. It consists of a tripod head, one front leg and two rear legs, and traversing
bar. Also the cradle for Machine Gun, equipped with hand-arm system. The traversing bar connects the two rear
legs. The traversing bar is hinged with two sleeve latch. This allows the tripod to fold to a closed position for
carrying or storage, or to lock in an open, extended position for use.

muzzle. There should not be perforation of the gas flow in a sheet of paper with the specific density of 80 g / m2,
located at this distance.
3.3 The 12.7x108 mm caliber blank cartridges ensure, at firing, enough recoil for the safety functioning of
DSKM machine gun, in automatic mode.
IV PACKAGING – TRANSPORT
4.1 The ammunition will be shipped in sealed metal boxes, palletized, preventing the influence of weather or
sunlight and preventing deterioration during storage, handling, and transport.
4.2 Packaging may be transported by land, sea and air, in compliance with AASTP-2/ Ed.1 / Ch.3 “Manual of
NATO Safety Principles for the Transport of Military Ammunition and Explosives” or UN Recommendations for
the Transport of Dangerous Goods / Ed.15.
4.3 Standard packing mode: 91 pieces of cartridges in a sealed metal box, 105(104 + 1) metal boxes in a
pallet.
A metal box, painted separately, will contain knives for opening the boxes of ammunition.
