LCE Series WEDECO Australia UV Disinfection Systems MAIN APPLICATIONS: WASTEWATER DISINFECTION & PROCESS WATER RE-USE LCE Series WEDECO Australia UV Solutions UV Disinfection for Wastewater As we move to a more sustainable world, environmental impact and public safety in Wastewater treatment standards have become paramount. UV Disinfection is a proven method of effectively treating tertiary wastewater, sewage, ground and grey water in municipal, Applications • BIOLOGICALLY TREATED WASTE WATER - Tertiary wastewater, sewage treatment plants, Re-use applications, irrigation. • PROCESS WATER FOR INDUSTRIAL USE - Electrical manufacturers, biological laboratories, cosmetics and service water. • MINING INDUSTRY - Fracture fluid , well treatment. industrial and domestic applications. UV Disinfection at prescribed dose offers safe, economical and environmentally friendly treatment of wastewater for re-use; cost effectively and void of residual toxic by-products (such as trihalomethanes). Additionally, UV disinfection does not affect the odour or clarity of the water. Consequently, UV disinfection has become the most commonly applied wastewater disinfection technology. Industrial Process applications utilise UV disinfection to inhibit growth of micro-organisms, and remove traces of micro pollutants. Wastewater contains an array of pathogenic micro-organisms, including bacteria, viruses and protozoa, which when ingested can cause severe illness and even death in the elderly, children and immune compromised individuals. Disinfection is considered the primary mechanism for inactivation and destruction of pathogenic micro-organisms to prevent waterborne diseases spreading to downstream users and the environment. WEDECO Australia UV Systems inactivate microorganisms by emitting radiation at 254 nanometres (nm) causing DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) damage preventing DNA replication resulting in cell death. At suitable UV dose WEDECO Australia UV disinfection systems permanently inactivate Salmonella, E.coli, Legionella pneumophilia bacteria; adenoviruses and protozoa e.g. Cryptosporidium and Giardia resulting in safe water for appropriate re-use processes. The level of disinfection is determined by the quality of the feed water. To achieve a high level of disinfection, pre treatment to remove particulate matter is required. Design The WEDEDO Australia LCE series of UV disinfection systems consist of an electro-polished stainless steel dual reactor chamber (except LCE 2 which is a single chamber) fitted with low pressure, high efficiency UV lamp sitting inside a protective quartz thimble inside each reactor chamber. Water flows parallel to the quartz thimble containing the UV lamp, allowing maximum water exposure to the UV light radiation emitted at 254nm. Each reactor unit has a coinciding control cabinet which plugs into mains power and runs the UV lamp. Control cabinet have optional fail safe alarm and run meter, if required. Each electro-polished chamber has standard in/outlet fittings in a “Z” pattern. These units should be mounted horizontally (except LCE 2 which can be mounted vertically or horizontally) and are equipped with a 1.5 meter cable to the control cabinet. The units are designed with a convenient viewing port to confirm operation. WEDECO Australia UV disinfection systems are easily installed in your water line. UV lamps are simple to replace and only require changing after one full year of use. A complete Installation, Operation and Maintenance manual is provided with each system.
