She last played for Poland in 2011 during EuroBasket Women tournament which was hosted by the Poles. Kobryn is currently in the USA, where she plays for Phoenix Mercury. Kobryn will miss five games for the Mercury, two of those being against conference rivals Minnesota Lynx. Her addition will be of huge help for Poland as Agnieszka Szott-‐Hejmej has broken metacarpal bone and Magdalena Leciejewska won’t be joining the team for health reasons. Poland’s opponents in the qualifiers will be Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Luxembourg. As many as ten players who would have pushed hard for a spot in the play-‐caller's first ever final roster at the senior level, are all out and that leaves him with much slimmer pickings to choose from than he would have initially hoped for. The Good Angels Kosice coach will be without the top three offensive contributors from EuroBasket Women 2013, with Lucia Kupcikova, Romana Vynuchalova and Klaudia Lukacovicova all absent from the 14-‐name roster. Playmaker Gabriella Kubatova is also missing, while there is to be no return for EuroLeague Women guard Ivana Jalcova who played the pivotal role in getting her nation to France. On a more positive note, Kovacik could field up to five of his own club players and most notably, the legendary Zuzana Zirkova. The 34-‐year-‐old looks set to end her five-‐year hiatus from the international stage, having last stepped out at EuroBasket Women Final Round in Latvia during 2009, when she produced some typically scintillating displays. She recently came out of retirement to play with Good Angels Kosice. There are also a couple of very important returnees in Anna Jurcenkova and Katarina Tetemondova, who played in EuroLeague Women with UE Sopron and BK Imos Brno last season. Slovak Republic will compete with Luxembourg, Poland and Slovenia in Group A.* The full roster is as follows: Katarina Tetemondova (UE Sopron), Anna Jurcenkova (BK IMOS Brno), Timea Sujova (SBK Samorin), Eva Kmeťova (MBK Ruzomberok), Lucia Krc-‐Turbova (Piestanske Cajky), Zuzana Brezianova (MBK Ruzomberok), Dominika Baburova (MBK Ruzomberok), Barbora Balintova (Good Angels Kosice), Katarina Pindrochova (Good Angels Kosice), Martina Kissova (Good Angels Kosice), Zuzana Zirkova (Good Angels Kosice), Zofia Hruscakova (Good Angels Kosice), Maria Felixova (Piestanske Cajky), Sabina Oroszova (Dartmouth University) EuroBasket Women 2015, 2nd Qualifying Round 2014 Slovak Republic naturalizes Kristi Toliver, she will join the team for EuroBasket qualifiers Slovak Republic has naturalized American guard Kristi Toliver, the NT’s manager Daniel Jendrichovsky has confirmed to Slovak news agency TASR. Negotiations between the Slovaks and the Toliver began at the start of last year. She will leave the Los Angeles Sparks for EuroBasket Women 2015 Qualification tournament. There she is expected to play in at least four of Slovak Republic’s six games. She could also play in all six. All of this of course hinges on Slovak Basketball Federation getting its suspension lifted by FIBA by the time the tournament starts. The qualifiers for Slovaks begin on June 8 and run until June 25. They will play against Poland, Slovenia and Luxembourg in group A. Toliver spent the past three seasons in Russia, playing for Dynamo Moscow and winning two EuroCup Women titles with them this season. Slovak passport will, no doubt, help her land better paid jobs as the strictest limits in European leagues are against the non-‐European players. According to some rumors she could land with a team that finished in the top four in EuroLeague Women last season.
