TIR Computerisation - Introduction




Customs, IRU and national associations are working in close
partnership to computerize TIR
The TIR system is supported by efficient, secure message
exchange mechanisms & risks management systems
A central TIR system operated by the IRU is connected with
all key Customs and national associations
• TIR-EPD:
29 connected countries
• Real-Time SafeTIR (RTS):
18 connected countries
TIR-EPD and RTS used jointly allow full computerization of
the processes between Customs and IRU
2
Most Secure Hosting Facilities in Switzerland
 IRU systems are hosted in two
highly secure Swisscom data centers
 Located in Bern in the heart of
Switzerland
 24/7 monitoring and operations
 Guaranteed business continuity
 Green IT
3
IRU Hybrid Cloud High-Level Architecture
4
Software Factory & Agile Methodologies
Goals
• Collaborative
• Result oriented
• Matching business needs
• Bringing proven results
• Moving fast
Agile Methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, XP, TDD

Conclusion


Further great progress achieved thanks to close
partnership with Contracting Parties
Focus moving forward:
• Implement ability to issue and manage electronic
guarantees & demonstrate that TIR can work paperless
• UNECE-IRU joint eTIR Pilot vision: to make the first
(simplified but yet realistic) step towards the implementation
of a fully functional eTIR system, as described in the eTIR
Reference Model.
