Quatre élèves fort doués de guitare
du célèbre guitariste et pédagogue,
Patrick Roux, du Conservatoire
de musique de Gatineau, forment
depuis 2009 le Quatuor Fandango.
La qualité du quatuor et le talent des
guitaristes se relèvent rapidement
et l’ensemble est choisi par les
Jeunesses musicales du Canada
pour effectuer deux tournées en
2013-2014. La première tournée de
six semaines, à l’automne 2013, les a
amenés dans l’Est du Québec et les
Maritimes; la deuxième tournée de
quatre semaines, à l’hiver 2014, les
a conduits à l’Ouest du Québec et
dans la région de l’Outaouais.

œuvres telles Berimbao, de Jürg
Kindell, influencée par les rythmes
africains et utilisant une percussion
sur cordes, Cuban Landscape de
Leo Brouwer, musique illustrant
le paysage urbain et Tango
Contretemps de Patrick Roux,
incorporant le jeux théâtral.

un répertoire original, accessible
et recherché qui comporte des
œuvres propres au quatuor de

In 2009, four precociously gifted
guitar students of the celebrated
guitarist and teacher, Patrick Roux
at the Conservatoire de musique
de Gatineau, decided to create the
Quatuor Fandango. Inspired by their
teacher who had himself founded
the famed Canadian Guitar Quartet,
the Quatuor Fandango have gone
from strength to strength. They
were recently chosen by Jeunesses
musicales du Canada to participate
in two provincial and national
tours during the 2013-2014 season.
The first tour, lasting six weeks in
the autumn took them to Eastern
Québec and the Maritimes while the
second during the winter of 2014
took them to western Québec and
Ontario during a four-week period.
intriguing repertoire comprising
works specifically composed
for guitar quartet as well as
enterprising arrangements and
transcriptions of exiting musical
masterpieces. Their programmes
present a variety of musical styles
and a great diversity of musical
influences and inspiration including
many works by established and
emerging Canadian composers.
Quatuor Fandango are an exciting
and dynamic ensemble, their
performances including such works
as Berimbao, by Jürg Kindell, which
is influenced by African rhythms
and using strings as percussion and
Leo Brouwer’s urban landscape
piece, Cuban Landscape as well as
their teacher, Patrick Roux’s Tango
Contretemps which incorporates
elements of theatricality.
