Learn about LHS PLAYMAKERS The Playmakers club would like to welcome you to the 2014-2015 school year. Playmakers is Liberty’s only theatre arts/drama club and we would like to invite you to become a part of our very active and highly-regarded program. Any student who meets the district eligibility requirements can audition or work on a crew for our play or musical. You do not need to be a member of Playmakers to participate in these productions! However, there are LOTS of good reasons for becoming a member of Playmakers! PROVISIONAL MEMBERSHIP* When you fill out the Playmakers Membership Information form, you become a Provisional Member for the current school year. Provisional Members can: keep a record of their hours of work for Playmakers in our binder so we know when they have reached the 10 hours that qualifies them for Permanent Membership serve on Playmakers committees (Tech, Costume, Scrapbook, Fundraising, etc.) walk with Playmakers in the Homecoming Parade (September 12) PERMANENT MEMBERSHIP* You become a Permanent Member if you are a current Executive Council member OR you purchase a Playmakers Bundle Pack** OR you work 10 hours (rehearsals, tech work, service hours). Permanent Membership is only good for the current school year. Permanent Members can: audition for the Improvisation (Improv) Team. earn points toward a Liberty Theatre Arts Letter, membership in the International Thespian Society (an honor society for theatre students) and other awards. vote in Playmakers elections (Shakespeare Finalists, Executive Council, etc.) run for Executive Council (our officers). Elections are held in May for the following year. *Participation in any Playmakers activity and membership in the club is dependent on meeting district eligibility requirements (Grade Point Average, Citizenship/Discipline, Attendance) **PLAYMAKERS BUNDLE PACK If you purchase our Bundle Pack, you receive the following: immediate Permanent Membership status The Script – Important documents regarding Playmakers: Constitution, our 14-15 calendar, Useful Theatre Terms, etc. discounted tickets for you (non-transferrable) to our play and musical, the HHS play and musical, our Improvapalooza productions, our Haunted House and other Playmakers productions. A 2014-2015 Playmakers t-shirt IMPORTANT NOTE: Bundle Packs must be purchased by August 5 so we can get the shirts ordered! You can become a Permanent Member of Playmakers by buying a Bundle Pack at Walk-Thru, during lunch or right after school on July 31, August 1, 4, 5. We provide students with opportunities for a wide variety of theatrical experiences. You can learn and work in the beautiful Allan E. Jones Performing Arts Center! Every year, Playmakers produces a play, a musical, a Haunted House, Improv shows and more. One of our most popular events is a four-day trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon during the March break. Have you ever watched Drew Carey’s Whose Line is It, Anyway?? Well, we have a team of 8-10 students that plays those same improvisational games in our IMPROVAPALOOZA! showcases. You must be a Permanent Member of Playmakers for the current school year to audition for the improv team. Playmakers will be participating in the Homecoming parade and members are welcome to walk with us. All of this while meeting new friends and getting involved in a fun campus activity! Thursday, July 24 – Production Team and Crew applications for The Arabian Nights will be available on the Playmakers website today. Wednesday, July 30 Lunch – FIRST PLAYMAKERS MEETING of the year! Meet you on the steps of the Performing Arts Center. All interested students should attend; you do not need to be a member! Crew applications can be turned in today. Thursday, July 31 Crew applications can be turned in today until NOON today. Production Team Meeting (Tentative) Tuesday, August 5 Deadline to purchase Playmakers Bundle Pack 7:15-8:15 Playmakers/POPs meeting. Both the student and a parent should attend. 8:30-8:50 Playmakers Executive Council/Parent meeting. At least one parent should attend with child. Improv Team: A workshop and auditions will be held during the 2nd week of school. Check email, Facebook, Twitter and listen for announcements for more details.
