The meeting was adjourned at 8:52 p.m. Respectfully submitted Belinda K Freeman Recording Secretary Building Committees Meeting Minutes Combined Meeting of All Four Committees: Land Acquisition, Financial Planning, Fund Raising, Building Design December 15, 2014 ~ 7 p.m. Members present: Tammie Scheich, Al Martens, Cheryl Sulewski, Richard Marquardt, Cris Lewis, Dave Dachlet, Kathy Dachlet, David Osborn, Ellen VandenAvond, Ross Halkoski, Betty Haevers, Julie Salemi, Mary Scott, Nancy Novrosky, Meg Novrosky Schmieder, Tom Jones, Becky Barr, Sandy Dunand, Melissa Farwell, Sara Hallam, Tracy Salisbury, Erik Swan Members absent: Leslie Tenor, Ann Peterson, Belinda Freeman, Elmer Willems Introductions of those in attendance Goals of each Committee: Building – goal in-progress; initial building to be 120’ x 100’ with the ability to be extended in the future. Discussed possible other uses/ business-sharing to generate income. Finance – goal: Perform audit of current financials and get a handle on the true income and expense streams so that it can be determined what we can actually afford. Fund-Raising – goal: to initiate and maintain on-going fund-raising efforts to support both short-term (new building) and long-term (maintain a new building) goals of PKC by utilizing any gathering of PKC members and or trainees as an opportunity for fund-raising. Land Acquisition – goal: (specific wording unavailable) to seek out and research land parcels and narrow down the options to a minimum of three to be presented to the membership for discussion and vote. Continue this process until a new land site has been selected and purchased. Current progress of each committee Building – Ross had prepared a handout, below is a brief summary of his notes and discussion: Ross has procured a rough design to be utilized for planning purposes and when talking with other companies – hard to get solid price quotes without knowing what specifics are actually needed and wanted and the location. He has contacted: Bayland Buildings, SMA Construction Services, Milbach Construction, General Steel; others that may be contacted: Morton, Forest, Cleary, Fox, and Keller. Some folks will be accompanying Julie to see a building constructed by the Amish using a Menards plan and supplies. In general, wood construction is not safe beyond an 80’ span due to potential of weight from snow-loading; want 100’ wide steel beams that allow for future 25’ additions to the length of the building. Supposedly wouldn’t need sprinkling system but it is highly recommended for resale value and lower insurance premiums; recommend a 16’ ceiling (without drop ceiling tiles) to allow for a 14’ high garage door, again for resale value; need to ensure price quotes include sinking all footings sufficiently enough to deal with frost depths and conform to local building codes. Finance – committee has gone through the financial information in preparation for performing audit in January. General direction for this committee is in a holding pattern until the audit is done and more specifics are nailed down regarding this project: scope, dollars needed, etc. Club needs to really evaluate its needs and its ability to make mortgage payments as right now the revenue stream is not sufficient and the cost estimate for both new land and building appears to be in excess of $_____. Fund Raising – Santa pic event is done and successful. The last of the initial order of the Kwik Trip gas cards was sold during the meeting; another order has been placed. Lots more ideas for 2015 and beyond. Land Acquisition – has a page of parcels that have been discussed and viewed. Waiting for call backs from several villages/towns on industrial sites. Our club is not a real good fit for this type of area as lower land costs are incentives for businesses to bring in revenue and jobs to the area. Have looked at another site of 6-acres in Howard but it needs a septic system. Richard M. to investigate cost of a commercial septic system. May need further discussion from this group but one goal is to limit the land search area to within a certain radius from the center of Green Bay and work within that circle. There was some discussion on looking at the costs to stay at current site – several pros and cons were discussed, if we get serious about this option we will need to present to membership for re-evaluation. Next steps: All four committees to meet again near the end of January Land will look further into land options and narrowing down list Finance will be done with audit and present findings Fund-Raising will discuss possibility of future tiered membership/training fees Building some members will go on-site to a Menards building share thoughts Respectfully submitted, Tammie Scheich 2 0 1 5 S E S S I O N 1 C L A S S S C H E D U L E Session 1 – 2015 – Orientation – Tuesday, January 6, 7:00 p.m. Class Schedule - Classes begin January 12 Monday: (January 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16, 23, March 2) 5:00 p.m. Conformation (Sandy Solcz) 6:00 p.m. Graduate Puppy (Mary Ellen Brown) 6:45 p.m. Ring Ready Rally (Sandy Dunand & Mary Scott) (Class limited to 12 teams) Tuesday: (January 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, 24, March 3) 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Open Floor Obedience Training (Pat Grathen) 6-6:45 p.m. Introductory Agility 7-7:45 p.m. Beginner Agility 8:15 p.m. Conformation (Barb Lankford) Wednesday: (January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 18, 25, March 4) 8:30–11:00 a.m. Competitive Obedience (Judy Rathbun) 4–6 p.m. Utility (Karvin Leffel) 6:45–7:30 p.m. Intermediate/Novice Agility 7:45 p.m. Open/Excellent Agility Thursday: 4:00 5:00 6:00 7:00 7:45 (January 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19, 26, March 5) p.m. Competitive Open (Patti Martin) p.m. Competitive Novice (Patti Martin) p.m. Puppy Socialization (Chris Olson) p.m. Beginners Obedience (Ellen Kramer) p.m. Novice (Jean Dussault) Friday: 8:30 a.m.-noon Open Floor Obedience Training (Karen Smith) (Class meets each Friday) Saturday: 8:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Nose Work Class (Sue Ruesch) Sunday: 8:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Competition Ready Nose Work Class (Sue Ruesch) The Canine Good Citizen class will return for Second Session.
