Refit of Amore Mio 2 (ex‐Sea Jewel)
JULY 3, 2014 BY DIANE M. BYRNE
Talk about a tight timetable. FM‐ Architettura d’Interni had four months to plan and complete a refit of Amore Mio
2. Making for more of a challenge was the megayacht’s voluminous nature. Amore Mio 2 is 171’9” (52.4 meters), rising
five decks high and with a beam of 33’8” (10.3 meters).
Built by Abeking & Rasmussen as Sea Jewel in 1997, Amore Mio 2 just changed hands in December 2013. The refit
began in January, at C.P.N. in Ancona, Italy. (C.P.N. has a background in metal construction, piping, and outfitting of
both yachts and commercial vessels. It has collaborated with yacht builders such as Fincantieri, ISA Yachts, and CRN.
It also holds an interest in Cantiere delle Marche.) Before any soft goods could go inside or on deck, the yard was
tasked with checking and replacing insulation and the air‐conditioning system.
As many designers do, FM‐ Architettura d’Interni made the owners’ decision‐making easier ahead of time by
providing 3D and realistic‐looking computer images as well as sketches and sample materials. The design team also
personally selected craftspeople in the Ancona region to execute various elements. These included woodworkers
and leather artisans. Amore Mio 2 now has custom‐designed features like melted metal in some spaces. There are
also tables made of brushed silver and greyed mahogany supported by woven‐leather‐wrapped bases. Overall, the

new decor of Amore Mio 2 is contemporary and chic, characterized by light tones and punches of color and texture.
The owners and guests (up to 12) who will cruise aboard Amore Mio 2 have plenty of large lounging areas inside and
on deck to enjoy. Furthermore, the owners have a full‐beam suite forward on the main deck (above), replacing what
was previously two king guest staterooms. The lower deck contains five guest staterooms, two being VIPs accessed
privately from a stairway aft on the main deck. Further of note down here is a big playroom for young family
members.
Back on the main deck, the TV contained within custom cabinetry should be put to good use. And, as much as the
saloon has lovely, welcoming furniture groupings, guests may have a hard time tearing their attention away from
something in the aft port‐side corner. Here, Amore Mio 2 has a fantastic, custom‐made foosball table. FM‐
Architettura d’Interni had it made of glass and steel, with bright‐red and polished‐metal players.
Yet more games can be played on the upper deck. Amore Mio 2’s skylounge has a table for backgammon and one for
checkers. Each is wrapped in leather and can convert to cocktail tables.
Amore Mio 2 is currently cruising in the Med.
