All rights reserved. Synopsys Common Licensing Release Notes Version 11.9 Installation and Licensing Information Synopsys Common Licensing version 11.9 is a standalone release. You must install this release in an empty directory by using the latest version of the Synopsys Installer. Do not install this release over an existing release of a Synopsys tool. SCL version 11.9 includes all the bug fixes available in SCL version 11.8 and earlier. For UNIX platforms, you should use the Synopsys Installer to install the SCL software. For SCL configuration and startup instructions, see Starting the SCL Server on UNIX and Windows Systems in the Synopsys Common Licensing Administration Guide, which is available at the following address: http://www.synopsys.com/licensing To download SCL via Electronic Software Transfer, download the scl_v11.9_common.spf file and the platform-specific tar file. For example, for the x86_64 platform, download the scl_v11.9_common.spf file, and either the scl_v11.9_amd64.spf file (64-bit) or the scl_v11.9_linux.spf file (32-bit). The Synopsys Installer defaults to the following root directory: /usr/synopsys/SCL/11.9. Under this root directory are additional directories, such as /usr/synopsys/SCL/11.9/amd64/bin/snpslmd For the Windows platform, the default installation directory is C:\Synopsys\SCL\11.9. After installation, the path to the executable is: C:\Synopsys\SCL\11.9\win32\snpslmd.exe. Synopsys also provides various dongle drivers for Windows and Linux that are required when you use a dongle as a license server. Dongle drivers for the Windows platforms are included in this directory: C:\Synopsys\SCL\11.9\win32\drivers. Dongle drivers for Linux are included in the synopsys_root/platform/drivers directory. For example, /usr/synopsys/11.9/linux/drivers. Installation and Licensing Information 2 Synopsys Common Licensing Release Notes Version 11.9 New Features, Enhancements, and Changes Synopsys Common Licensing version 11.9 provides the following new features, enhancements, and changes: • Support for the targetld License Daemon • Combined Vendor Daemons • Combined Vendor Daemon Operating System Support • Platform Support Changes • Change to the EST Product File Extension • Resolved Issues in FlexNet Version 11.12.1.2 • Future Changes to Legacy Product Support Support for the targetld License Daemon Synopsys Common Licensing version 11.9 is based on FlexNet version 11.12.1.2, the standard licensing software provided by Flexera Software. The targetld license daemon is incorporated into SCL version 11.9. This legacy license daemon can now be used within sclsh in version 11.9. For example, % % % % setenv SCL_ENABLE_BRIDGE 1 sclsh sclsh> targetld init sclsh> targetld co <Feature_name> For help on sclsh, type help at the sclsh prompt to see all the commands supported by sclsh: % sclsh > help For help on a specific command, use the following option: % sclsh > <command_name> -help New Features, Enhancements, and Changes 3 Synopsys Common Licensing Release Notes Version 11.9 Combined Vendor Daemons Table 1 shows the complete list of legacy vendor daemons incorporated into SCL version 11.9. In previous versions, EST files used the .tar file extension. The change in the file name extension distinguishes these files from regular tar files. Synopsys Installer version 3.2 can handle product files with either extension. Resolved Issues in FlexNet Version 11.12.1.2 The following issues are resolved in FlexNet version 11.12.1.2: • Increased connections in lmgrd Previously, the lmgrd for the Windows OS did not respond to FlexNet utilities or clients when more than 62 simultaneous connections were established. To increase the number of simultaneous connections, the file descriptor limit for lmgrd is increased to 1K for Windows only. (FNP-9384) • Fix for the EXCLUDE options file keyword and IP Addresses Previously, additional IP addresses were blocked or excluded when the EXCLUDE option was used in the options file. This issue in now resolved. (FNP-9894) • Stable FlexID 9 dongle connection to Linux systems Previously, a vendor daemon using a FlexID 9 hostid would lose contact with the dongle after a period of time from several hours to days; and then shut down when its periodic hostid check failed. This issue is now resolved. (FNP-9698 and FNP-9757) Future Changes to Legacy Product Support Starting in March 2015, legacy versions of Synopsys products that use the avantd or synopsysd license daemons are not supported with newly issued license keys. New Features, Enhancements, and Changes 11 Synopsys Common Licensing Release Notes Version 11.9 For detailed compatibility information by tool and version, see the legacy compatibility page at http://www.synopsys.com/Support/LI/Licensing/Pages/legacy.aspx.
