Steve Biko Centre Museum: Museum entry
will be free of charge in commemoration of
Biko’s death and celebration of South Africa’s
Heritage Month.
15th Annual Steve Biko Memorial Lecture:
The Lecture will be delivered by Judge
Navanethem ‘Navi’ Pillay, outgoing United
Nations High Commissioner for Human
Rights. The title of her Lecture is “Advancing
Human Rights In South Africa and the
World”.
Journey to Legacy – A Walking Tour of Biko
Related Heritage Sites: The sites include;
 Victoria Grounds, site of Biko’s
funeral. The walking tour will begin
from here;
 Garden of Remembrance, site of
Biko’s burial;

National Legacy Project
Giant in Him: An original theatrical piece
depicting the life and times of Bantu Stephen
Biko. Directed by Lulamile (Bongo) Nikani.
The play is suitable for all audiences. The
show is free of charge.
A special buffet lunch will be served at the
Steve Biko Centre’s Aluta Restaurant, at
R100.00 for adults and R15.00 for children.
2014 Steve Biko Bioethics Lecture: The
lecture will be delivered by Wits University
Associate Professor Bonita Meyersfeld. The
title of her lecture is “Death by Stealth: The
Rights of Foreign Nationals to Healthcare in
South Africa”.

Lewis Gordon. A Black-American public
intellectual, philosopher, political thinker,
educator and musician, Gordon was born in
the island of Jamaica. His research is in
Africana philosophy, philosophy of existence,
phenomenology,
social
and
political
philosophy, and philosophy of science have
been the subjects of many studies in a variety
of disciplines.
Biko’s Quest at the Afro Vibes Festival;
Netherlands: A dance production depicting
the life of Steve Biko. The production is
inspired by the Steve Biko Foundation’s (SBF)
exhibition, The Quest for a True Humanity. The
cornerstones of this production are: Memory,
Identity, History and Emotion. Directed by
Mandla Mbothwe. Duration: 80 minutes.
