South Eastern Junior Cricket Association Annual Presentation of Awards Season 2013 / 2014 4 May 2014 Welcome The 2013/2014 season was a busy and successful one, and for the first time in years, it was one where games were rain affected. In the interests of player development, the U9 and U10 age groups were combined into U10 Mods and U10 Colts. The SEJCA is most appreciative of the support of our member clubs and their dedicated officials, coaches, managers, volunteers, parents and supporters without whom, our competition would never eventuate: Balmain and Inner Sydney Tigers Cricket Club Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club Juniors Maccabi Junior Cricket Club Randwick Junior Cricket Club South Sydney Mt Carmel Junior Cricket Club Sydney Coastal Concord Briars We can reflect on the season with these highlights: 7 Clubs entered teams in competitions for U8 – U16s Around 900 players participated in games each weekend 80 teams played in 40 games each weekend Approx 775 games of junior cricket were played in 16/17 rounds from September 2013 to March 2014 Games were played on 34 grounds across 5 Council areas Games stretched from the south at Coral Sea in Maroubra and west to Five Dock Maccabi Club won a SEJCA Premiership – U11s, after many years At the representative level: 120 players participated in development squads 80 players represented SEJCA in ages U10-U16 in the DCA competition 40 players represented SEJCA in ages U11-U13 in the IDCA Presidents Cup competition for the first time 1 team won the Shield final – Foster Shield U10 1 team made it to the Shield Final – Moore Shield U14 2 teams made it to the Shield Qualifying Finals: Cawsey Shield U12 & Gee Shield U13 SEJCA placed 4th overall in the DCA Competition The SEJCA Committee: Formally met 8 times during the season, plus a 4 hour planning evening Attended 3 Randwick City Council Sports Committee meetings Maintains an excellent relationship with Randwick City and Botany Councils for grounds maintenance Maintained close relationships with sponsors The Randwick Club and links with the Sydney Sixers franchise Held a highly successful fundraising lunch We are particularly grateful to our sponsors, The Randwick Club, Kookaburra and Kingsgrove Sports. to present the Shield. Phil received an OAM in 2013 for service to the Waverley region through a range of sporting and community organisations.
