Flexible system solutions
remove your kitchen vapours
They should be as inconspicuous as possible. Adjust to the
variable pressure of high-performance fans in island and wallmounted hoods - and still look
good.
Ventilation technology
To fulfil all the technical air flow
and architectural demands of
modern exhaust and supply air
you have to offer a wide range
of highly flexible flat duct
systems.
COMPAIR® systems with their
specifically constructed
diameter geometry are
optimally constructed for
exhaust air routing in kitchens
with permanently low back
pressure. This is the outcome of
in-house developments and
productions which are perfectly
engineered down to the last
detail.

The advantages of exhaust air technology
in comparison to others...
The recirculating hood can be
used in areas where exhaust air
operation isn’t feasible or only
possible after expensive structural
changes. As a kitchen sales
expert, in individual kitchen
planning, you should always
mention to your clients that
recirculating hoods aren’t a good
alternative to exhaust hoods.
Stiftung Warentest's statement (test
8/2007) could be seen as an
argument for the more effective use
of exhaust hoods: "No charcoal filter can absorb cooking smells as
effectively as an exhaust duct can
extract them."
The fact that recirculating hoods
aren’t at all able to clear the
humidity in kitchen fumes is
another problem which,
with growing insulation
awareness, can over time lead to
mildew, which poses a health risk.
Ventilation technology
Recirculating air example
The focus was on harmonising the
energy efficient usage of system
parts with powerful exhaust hoods.
With the COMPAIR® range we
offer you technically sophisticated
air duct technology for individual
exhaust air solutions when
planning new constructions and
refurbishments. While developing
the products we made a point of
being in constant dialogue with
universities and research
institutions.

Reasons for exhaust air
technology:
Everything you need to know in a
nutshell
• Smells, dampness and carbon
monoxide (gas stoves) are
almost completely diverted to the
outside.
• Due to the removal of dampness
the danger of long term health
risks (allergies etc.) due to mildew infestation are reduced and
also damage caused by
condensed water can be
avoided (i.e. swelling up of
wooden surfaces).
• Given the same construction and
volume flow, an exhaust hood
combined with a fluidic adapted
190/13
air duct/wall sleeve installation
is much less noisy than a
recirculating hood.
• The costs for the necessary
changing of the activated carbon filter in a recirculating air
system are much higher than for
the installation of an exhaust
duct including the wall sleeve
(calculation basis 15 years/
3 changes per year).
• Heat losses are minimised by the
use of a wall sleeve, like the
COMPAIR® flow Star, that only
opens when the cooker hood is
in operation. Since during recirculating air operation extra
ventilation is usually needed, the
heat losses should be comparable.
• The replacement air needed during the exhaust air operation
can get to the cooking area
through a window, door gap or
another air supply opening*.
*Secure air supply openings are always
stipulated when an exhaust hood and an
ambient air-dependent furnace are installed in dwellings. The smallest solution is
a contact switch, that automatically closes
the exhaust hood when the window is
closed. Alternatively, an electrical window
drive that is controlled by the on/off switch
of the exhaust hood can be installed. This
avoids the window staying open constantly.

smoothed in the duct and directed to

lost, depending on the length and

Energy efficiency for extremely
powerfull hoods
Bionik deals with the research and
the systematic transfer of solutions
from nature to technical applications. For COMPAIR® bion the flow
dynamics optimal meandering
systems in watercourses formed the
natural example.
The development of the deflector
was carried out using the latest simulation and measurement technology.
Here, the focus was on the energy
efficient use of the system parts with
extremely powerfull hoods.

All COMPAIR® bion deflectors can
also be subsequently integrated into
existing systems taking the duct geometry into account.
Using the modern COMPAIR® flow
150 rectangular profile, freedom of
design is retained in kitchen planning. The external system dimensions H 89 mm x W 222 mm and
corner radiuses of 20 mm enable
you to plan inconspicuously and in
a space-saving way.
