Soprano Abigail Dyer was born in New Jersey, USA. As a Liedersinger she has given the
premiers of the song cycles, “Epithalamion,” “Japanese Love Songs” and “Three Spanish
Songs,” by Ishmael Wallace, “Songs from Hesperides,” by Peter Homans and “My Story,” by
Nailah Namebko, Peter Homans and Ishmael Wallace. At the Amato Opera (New York), Pacific
Opera (New York), and New York Street Opera she has performed the roles of Sieglinde
(“Walküre”) Santuzza (“Cavalleria Rusticana”), High Priestess (“Aida”), Second Lady (“Magic
Flute”) and Mercedes (“Carmen”). She has also created the leading role of the Abbess in the
premier of the opera “Veil of Forgetfulness,” and Mrs. Hunter­Fortune, in the premier of the
opera AFRAID: Fanny Fern, by Susan Stoderl, in which she later took over the lead role of Fanny
Fern. Before she began her training as an opera singer she worked for three years as a
Professor of Early Modern European History at the University of Colorado, Boulder (Ph.D., M.
Phil., MA, Columbia University; BA, Vassar College).
