How can I apply and what are the application procedures?
A2)
a)
Candidates studying in a Government, Government-Aided or Independent School in
Singapore (Singaporean/Permanent Resident/International Student) or private
candidates (Singaporean/Permanent Resident) with valid 2014 Singapore-Cambridge
GCE ‘O’ Level Examination results and are eligible to participate in the JAE:
You will receive a JAE Form A on the day of release of the 2014 Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O'
Level examination results. Form A contains the following information:


Candidate's examination results, with all the courses that he/she is eligible to apply for under
the JAE; and
A JAE PIN which is a unique password to access MOE JAE-IS (JAE Internet System) to apply
for courses under JAE.
You can apply via Internet at MOE JAE website www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/jae
during the application period between Mon 12 Jan 15 (3pm) and Fri 16 Jan 15 (4pm). At the
application website, enter your NRIC/FIN and JAE PIN to start your application.
b) Singaporean/Permanent Resident with valid Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level
Examination results before year 2014 and are eligible to participate in the JAE:
You can apply via Internet at MOE JAE website www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/jae
during the application period between Mon 12 Jan 15 (3pm) and Fri 16 Jan 15 (4pm). At the
application website, enter your NRIC and SingPass to start your application.
Alternatively, you may apply personally at MOE Customer Service Centre (at 1 North Buona Vista
Drive) between Mon 12 Jan 15 (3pm) and Fri 16 Jan 15 (4pm). The opening hours of MOE
Customer Service Centre are from 8.30am to 4pm (Monday to Friday). You need to bring along
your original identity card, original Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination
certificate(s)/result slip(s) and Secondary School report book and/or CCA Certificate(s).
c)
International applicants who had sat for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level
Examination as candidates of a Government, Government-Aided or Independent school
in Singapore before Year 2014:
Applicants have to apply at the ITE Customer & Visitor Centre @ Ang Mo Kio with supporting
documents (original Student Pass/Dependent Pass/Passport, original Singapore-Cambridge GCE
‘O’ Level Examination certificate(s)/results slip(s) and Secondary School report book and/or CCA
certificate(s)) by Fri 16 Jan 15 (4pm). The opening hours of ITE Customer & Visitor Centre are
from 8am to 6pm from Monday to Friday. Applicants will be informed of the application outcome by
post at a later date.
d) International applicants who had sat for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level
Examination as private candidates or possess foreign qualification:
ITE will not be accepting applications from International Students with foreign or private
qualifications to our full-time courses.

What are the Higher Nitec courses offered under the Special Admissions Exercise (SAE)
and how can I apply for these courses?
A3)
The following Higher Nitec courses are offered under the Special Admission Exercise (SAE).
Applicants who wish to apply under SAE are required to apply directly at the ITE Colleges offering
the course during the application period between Mon 12 Jan 15 (3pm) and Fri 16 Jan 15 (4pm).
They are required to bring along their identity card, original GCE ‘O’ Level certificate(s) or result
slip(s) and Secondary School report book or CCA Certificate(s).

When will I know my application results?
A4)
If you apply through the MOE JAE website www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/jae
between Mon 12 Jan 15 (3pm) and Fri 16 Jan 15 (4pm), the result of your application will be
released about two weeks after the JAE application period through the following modes:
- JAE-IS, accessible through the JAE website at www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/jae;
- Short Messaging System (SMS) via applicant’s mobile number (if provided by applicants during
the JAE).

How do I accept the course offer?
A5)
Applicants who are posted to a Higher Nitec course in ITE will receive an Enrolment Letter from
ITE via post by Mon 2 Feb 15. Those who have indicated a valid email address in their JAE
application will also receive via email their password which they can use to login to ITE website for
course acceptance. Posted applicants are required to accept the course offer online between Fri
30 Jan 15 and Wed 4 Feb 15. Otherwise, your training place will be withdrawn and offered to
other applicant.
To accept the course offer, you are required to provide the following information:

ready before proceeding to accept the course offer. If you do not provide the required information
in order to complete the course acceptance by Wed 4 Feb 15, your training place will be
withdrawn and offered to other applicant.
Posted international applicants are also required to apply for Student Pass via the Immigration
& Checkpoints Authority (ICA) Solar Plus website at https://solarplus.ica.gov.sg/solarplusica/ITEIndex.do using the Solar Plus application number issued to them in the Enrolment Letter. If
you do not apply for your Student Pass by the date stipulated in the Posting Letter, your training
place will be withdrawn and offered to other applicant.
Q6)
Why does MOE offer me a course which I did not apply for?
A6)
For JAE applicants who were unsuccessful in getting a place in any of their applied course choices
at the end of the exercise and had indicated a Higher Nitec course as their 1st choice, MOE will
manually post them to a Higher Nitec course with vacancies, subject to applicants meeting the
course’s minimum entry requirements.
Q7)
Why am I not offered a course even though my results meet the Minimum Entry
Requirements for the courses?
A7)
Admission to a course is based on merit, considering the choices and vacancies for the course.
Applicants who are not offered a place can submit an appeal (see FAQ 8).
Q8)
If I missed the MOE application period or I am not offered a course during the main
application phase, can I still apply for full-time Higher Nitec courses?

Posted applicants who wish to apply for transfer of course/ITE College are advised to accept the

For appellants who have accepted the posted course but are not successful in their transfer, they
will remain in the course and ITE College which they have accepted.
Q10) Will I be issued an Enrolment Letter once I am successful in a full-time course?
A10) For Singaporeans / Permanent Residents, you are required to check your results at
http://www.ite.edu.sg/admission/ft/results.html and download your Enrolment Letter. The steps to
view and download the Enrolment Letter are: Click ‘Check Application Results / Accept Course
Offer’ > Login with your User ID and Password > Click 'Self-Service' > Click 'Student Admission' >
Click 'View Enrolment Letter'.
For International Students, the Enrolment Letter will be sent to you via post.
Q11) What is the duration of the Higher Nitec courses?
A11) The Higher Nitec courses are of 2-year duration.

Q12) What is the age requirement for full-time Higher Nitec courses?
A12) Applicants must be at least 16 years old as of 1st January 2015.

Under the cohort-based fee structure, a student’s tuition fees will remain unchanged for the entire duration of the
course. With this new fee structure, students will have greater certainty regarding tuition fees and help them to
better plan for the financing of their studies.

Registration Fee is a one-time payment.
Students are required to pay their term fees for all terms by the stipulated dates in order to remain in their
course of study. For the subsequent terms, students are required to pay their fees through PSEA / GIRO (if
you do not have PSEA or your PSEA account balance is insufficient for all terms in the course of study).
5) Full-time International Students studying in ITE are required to purchase a Group Hospitalisation and Surgical
Insurance (GHSI). The purpose of the GHSI is to help defray the hospitalisation expenses for International
Students in the event that they are hospitalised.

6) Fees is charged based on Citizenship at the point of term commencement. Students who have officially
informed ITE of their Citizenship change to Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident before the term
commencement will have their fees adjusted to the Singapore Citizen / Permanent Resident rate for that term.
However, for students who inform ITE officially of their Citizenship change to Singapore Citizen or Permanent
Resident after the term commencement, their fees will be adjusted to the Singapore Citizen / Permanent
Resident rate only with effect from the next term.
Q15) When will be the fees payment?

Upon acceptance of the Higher Nitec course, students who are a Singapore Citizen or Permanent
Resident of Singapore may pay their ITE first term fees and MOE JAE fees (applicable for
students posted by MOE under JAE) through one of the following modes:

Singapore Citizens with PSEA are required to complete the MOE
Standing Order (SO) form and submit it when you report to your
posted College for registration between Tue 17 Mar 15 and Wed 18
Mar 15. If your siblings have sufficient PSEA balances, you may
also submit SO Form to use their PSEA for payment of your term
fees. Please note that if a Singaporean has an Edusave account,
the balance will only be transferred to PSEA when he is 16 years
old or when he leaves Secondary School/Junior College/Centralised
Institute or Government-supported Special Education (SPED)
schools, whichever occurs later. You may call the PSEA enquiry
line at 62600777 to check whether you have a PSEA account and
your PSEA balances. If you have an Edusave account, you are
considered to be without PSEA at this point in time and are
required to pay your first term fees by the payment modes
mentioned below.

will need to inform the counter staff your NRIC/FIN number. You are
required to retain the SAM/Singapore Post Office payment receipt
and bring it along when you report to your posted College for
registration between Tue 17 Mar 15 and Wed 18 Mar 15.

All students are required to complete and submit the Application Form for InterBank GIRO
during the registration at the Colleges between Tue 17 Mar 15 and Wed 18 Mar 15 for
payment of fees from second term onwards (if you do not have PSEA or your PSEA
account balance is insufficient for all terms in the course of study).
If you do not pay your fees by Wed 18 Mar 15, you will be deemed to have withdrawn your
training place and the place will be offered to other eligible applicants appealing for a place
in the course.

International Students
Successful international applicants who have obtained their Student’s Pass and medical report
(only for courses which require medical examination) must pay the first term fees by NETS / Credit
Card at the Customer & Visitor Centre of your posted College in order to obtain the Enrolment
Letter to commence training. You are also required to submit the completed Application Form for
InterBank GIRO for payment of 2nd term fees onwards.
If you do not pay your fees upon receipt of Student Pass, you are deemed to have
withdrawn from the course which you have accepted. Please bring along your Student Pass,
completed GIRO Form and medical report (only for courses which require medical examination)
when you report to your posted College. You will not be allowed to make fee payment for the
course if you do not bring your Student Pass, completed GIRO Form and medical report
(only for courses which require medical examination).
Q16) Is there any refund of fees if I decide to withdraw from the course?
A16) Refund of fees is not an automatic process and is subject to approval. Applicants must apply for
refund before ITE will process the request. All requests for refund are not guaranteed and are
subjected to approval by ITE. Registration, course, supplementary and examination fees may be
refundable as follows:

Q17) Must I apply for deferment from National Service (NS) in order to study in ITE?
A17) National Service (NS) liable males who wish to pursue full-time ITE courses in 2015 and were born
in the year 1995 or earlier (for Secondary 4 Express students) or born in the year 1994 or earlier
(for Secondary 5 Normal Stream students) will have to check their eligibility for NS Deferment at
the Central Manpower Base (CMPB). Students who are not eligible for NS deferment will need to
withdraw from the course that they are enrolled.
Q18) How can students with existing physical/medical conditions seek course advising before
applying for a suitable course?
A18) Applicants with specific disabilities are strongly encouraged to seek prior academic course
advising from the respective College(s) before selecting their choice of application. For further
assistance on course advising before the submission of application, please call the ITE Customer
Service Centre on Tel 1800-2255-483 during office hours (8am to 6pm from Mon to Fri).
Q19) What are the progression opportunities of Higher Nitec graduates?
A19) Higher Nitec graduates with good results may apply for admission to a relevant Diploma course at
ITE and the Polytechnics. Those with Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for
direct admission to the second year of a relevant Diploma in Engineering/IT course at the
Polytechnics.

Q20) Can an ex-ITE graduate apply for ITE full-time courses?
A20) If you have graduated from a full-time Higher Nitec course at ITE and wish to return to do a second
full-time Higher Nitec course, you may apply for admission one year after graduation. For April
2015 intake, you may submit your admission application if you have graduated before 1 May 2014.
