Kumo no Muko Kumo no Muko is an international contemporary jazz quartet, consisting of renowned musicians Jonathan Ragonese (saxes, USA), Wim Leysen (piano, compositions, BE), Jos Machtel (double bass, NL), and Guilhem Flouzat (drums, FR|USA). Formed in New York, 2012, A.C.T.’s main priority is fluent but profound communication, venturing together through and beyond original compositions, in reverence for the atmosphere thus created in the here and now. A.C.T. just finished its European debut tour and will release its first recording in 2014. PRESENTING Jonathan Ragonese | Saxes Jonathan Ragonese, composer-arranger-saxophonist, has lived in New York City for five years, and completed his Master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music. As a saxophonist he has performed and recorded with local and international performers, such as Terell Stafford, David Liebman, Tim Warfield, JD Walter, The Harrisburg Symphony & Stuart Malina, Steve Rudolph, Steve Wilson and James Moody. As a composer his works have been premiered by saxophonist Steve Wilson, the Vermont Mozart Festival Orchestra, the Harrisburg Symphony, and the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Orchestra. Wim Leysen | Piano, Compositions Wim Leysen is a Belgian jazz pianist-composer, active on both the New York as the European scene, playing and recording with internationally acclaimed artists such as Dave Liebman, Miho Hazama, Basak Yavuz, Benjamin von Gutzeit, Sam Anning, etc. He recorded in venues as Rockwood Music Hall, Klavierhaus, MSR studios, Red Rock Recording Studios, and many more. Wim’s Master studies at the Manhattan School of Music were funded by the Belgian American Educational Foundation. Jos Machtel | Double Bass Jos is the regular bass player at the Brussels Jazz Orchestra since 1999, playing with Maria Schneider, Kenny Werner, Dave Liebman, Mccoy Tyner, Kenny Wheeler, Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Tom Harrell, Toots Thielemans, Bert Joris, Philippe Catherine, Wallace Rooney, Richard Galliano, Joe Lovano, the Brussels Philharmonic etc. He is also member of the Andrea Pozza European quintet, the Ben van Gelder Trio, the Mike del Ferro | Frank Vaganée Group, Floriaan Wempe 4tet and pianotrio Delooze | Machtel| DeWaele. Guilhem Flouzat | Drums Parisian drummer Guilhem Flouzat cultivates a versatile approach to drumming featured on four different releases this year, ranging from the energetic contemporary jazz of Adam Larson’s Simple Beauty, to singer Kavita Shah’s blend of Indian and African music. Flouzat is gaining attention and praise throughout the jazz community; drummer Dan Weiss calls him “one of the most talented young drummers I have met”, composer and pianist Dan Tepfer says he is “an accomplished composer with an original and fresh conception of development within a piece”.
