WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY WATERLOO | Brantford | Kitchener | Toronto FACULTY OF MUSIC Concert Calendar 2014 | 2015 SEASON wlu.ca/music WELCOME As Dean of the Faculty of Music I am pleased to welcome you to Laurier’s 2014-15 concert series. We are presenting an outstanding array of concerts by students, alumni, faculty, and guest artists. This season we feature over 100 performances, including student recitals, large ensemble concerts, our noon-hour series on Thursdays, and more than thirty graduating student recitals in the spring. The vast majority of these performances are IN THIS GUIDE free to the public. 2014 | 2015 Ensemble Concerts | 4 This year, rather than a Gala concert, we will feature nine consecutive days of Stravinsky concerts, seminars, lectures and workshops. This is an ambitious undertaking meant to draw various strands of our curriculum together and to provide the public with unique insights into one of the most important musical figures of the 20th century. It has been thrilling to see the concert season come together over the past few months. Special Performance: Tafelmusik | 7 Special Performance: Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra with soloist Yvonne Choi | 7 Music in the Library | 8 Student Recitals | 8 Special Events: Igor Stravinsky...Then & Now | 9 Music at Noon | 12 Chronological Listing of Events | 14 Concerts subject to change. For further information visit wlu.ca/music or e-mail [email protected]. Among other season highlights are two back-to-back concerts in February – Tafelmusik on the 2nd and the KWSO with Laurier grad and Ken Murray Competition winner Yvonne Choi on the 3rd. For events not listed in this brochure and for updated information please consult our website and watch the digital display sign on University Avenue. I look forward to seeing you at our concerts and other events throughout the season. Dr. Glen Carruthers Dean, Faculty of Music Free admission to all concerts for Laurier and High School students unless otherwise noted. Please show your ID at the box office.
