Highlights of the 2014 - 2015 Season Colm Wilkinson Jann Arden The Jim Cuddy Band Pie in the Sky World premiere! Message from Mayor Gordon Krantz On behalf of Milton Town Council and staff, I am proud to introduce the 2014 - 2015 season at the Milton Centre for the Arts! Our fourth season is an exciting presentation of the many genres of the performing arts. Come out to the Centre to experience award-winning entertainment with celebrated national and international musicians, dancers, comedians, theatre companies and more. In addition, the Milton Centre for the Arts once again has the opportunity to participate in the Theatre Connects program through the support of the Ontario Arts Council. This important project brings professional theatre to Milton and allows residents the opportunity to explore high quality offerings close to home. I encourage you to explore the fascinating theatre offerings, beginning on page 30 of this brochure. I invite you to take the time to engage in this season’s offerings to enjoy the richness and quality of life that arts and culture brings to all members of our community — young and old. Finally, I would also like to extend an invitation to join me at our third Annual Mayor’s Gala for the Arts on Saturday, January 17, 2015. This enjoyable evening raises the profile of arts and culture in Milton. G.A. Krantz, Mayor 2 Message from the Manager, Cultural Services It is a great pleasure to introduce our fourth season at the Milton Centre for the Arts. We strive to make this facility the heart of Milton with arts and cultural opportunities for all ages, and it is our hope that you will bring family and friends, and be inspired. I am excited to announce that this season we have the honour of presenting the world premiere of Doug Beattie’s Pie in the Sky. I first encountered this piece at a play reading workshop and immediately knew that it was right for Milton. Although the story resonates with all ages, I wished every 19 - 20 year-old could experience it. This is truly an amazing play that is sure to leave you reflecting on the world around you. I encourage you to spread the word about this performance, especially to the youth in your life, as it is a powerful introduction to the world of theatre. In addition to our diverse line-up of professional performances, we once again welcome the talents of many community organizations. Explore these presentations to discover the arts community that is flourishing within our town. Don’t forget to take advantage of valuable ticket discount opportunities, featured on page 43 of this brochure, to try something new this season.
