WRD L Simplifying Water Treatment WRD L WRD L is an innovative formulation of blended, emulsified co-polymers, ionic modifiers and the unique properties of the anionic surfactant Marine 3 Technologies (M3T). WRD L is biodegradable and nontoxic to plants, animals and people (environmentally friendly). WRD L is added to a water bowser at the recommended dosage (See “Use of WRD L”).After being sprayed onto the road surface WRD L will form a durable crossed linked matrix. The matrix will bind fine soil particles into larger, heavier particles (see image below), which are less prone to become airborne. Binding of soil particles by WRD L Loose soil particles Dust Suppression and WRD L Use of WRD L Dust suppression has become a must-have rather than a nice-to-have in order to comply with safety standards set by new legislation. WRD L is supplied as a concentrated liquid in convenient 1000 liter flow bins or in bulk. WRD L is added to a water bowser at the recommended dosage of 0.5% per volume of water. Water is the most commonly used dust suppressant but is very limited in its effectiveness. By adding WRD L to water the wetting ability of the water is increased. Consequently less water is used while at thesame time more efficiently suppressing dust. The frequency of application is determined by ambient climatic conditions, condition of the road, type of in-situ base material and traffic volume. DOSING SYSTEMS Field trials have also shown that spraying 1 liter of treated water per 1m2 is sufficient to successfully suppress dust. In the event of the product being specified and used by the client, a dosing system which allows the operator to add the product with the press of a button, can be installed. By adding WRD L to water at the recommended dosage rate and then applying the treated water as a dust palliative (suppressant / action used to reduce dust), you enjoy the following benefits: l Water Saving WRD L treated water effects a saving of 40% - 80% in water usage The equipment consists of a product tank, a dosing pump and a control panel. A pipe supplying product to the bowser will be installed on the existing goose-neck or pipe which is currently used to fill the tankers. Additional buttons dispensing different volumes of product can be added to the control panel in the event of the client using bowsers with different capacities. l Fewer Spraying Trips: The cost of the product is also off-set by savings made in fuel, manpower ,vehicle servicing intervals and road maintenance. l Building of Fine Soil Particles: Water run-off is reduced, thereby reducing road degradation due to run-off furrows The formation of a mud layer on the surface of the road is prevented, thus increasing safety. The loss of fines is reduced during water run-off and also by less mud caking onto vehicle fenders and chassis. The road surface is smoother and less likely to generate fugitive dust due to vertical movement of vehicles’ wheels and suspensions over an uneven surface. l Static in Fugitive Dust (dust caused by an activity that makes it blow in the air) is reduced. This is achieved by incorporating an anionic surfactant M3T in WRD L. Dust remains airborne for less time than normal, thereby reducing fugitive dust. l Improved Road Safety: Less dust means better visibility on the road. l Showing Care for Public Health. Reducing fugitive dust minimises health risks to road users and the public at picnic areas and campsites.
