Mission Statement
We, the congregation of Our Lady of Guadalupe catholic church, rooted in a caring community, are guided by the holy spirit to live
and grow in love and compassion. by extending
the heart and hands of our lady in our daily
lives, we joyfully commit ourselves to proclaim the Gospel, celebrate our faith and
acknowledge our diversity as God’s precious
gift. We pledge to serve the needs and concerns of everyone and will strive to build
God’s kingdom of love, justice and peace
through worship, evangelization and service.
Scripture Insights
It can be interesting to compare
last Sunday’s post-Resurrection
appearance in the Gospel with
this Sunday’s. In both readings,
Jesus stands in the midst of his
disciples and wishes peace to a
“startled and terrified” group.
As when he meets the doubtful
Thomas, Jesus gently asks why
they are troubled and why they
have questions on their hearts.
Then he offers both comfort and
proof that he has truly risen by
first suggesting that they touch
and see him, and second, he
shows he is able to eat with
them.
In today’s reading from Acts,
Luke continues the message that
all are called to believe that the
Christ has truly risen. The God
of our ancestors has fulfilled the
prophetic Scriptures by glorifying and raising the Messiah
who has suffered,
Today’s readings also speak
about conversion. The Gospel
sys that Jesus “opened their
minds to understand the scriptures” and therefore be converted, and in Acts, Peter challenges
the crowd to repent so that their
sins may be “wiped away”.
It is sin and ignorance that
separates and keeps us at a
distance from God.
Peace be with you ………….
