StefanOppl
CurriculumVitae
Stefan Oppl has been actively working in academia since 2003. He graduated in computer
science in 2004 at the Kepler University of Linz and earned an MBA degree in applied
knowledgemanagementin2007.Duringhisundergraduatestudieshewasawardedthree
timeswithgrantsforoutstandingstudyperformancebytheuniversity.Hismasterthesiswas
awardedagrantforexcellentAustrianstudentsbytheministerofresearchandeducation.He
earnedhisPhDincomputersciencefromthetechnicalUniversityofViennain2010.Histhesis
was nominated for the GI Dissertationspreis, an annual award for the best PhD thesis in
computerscienceinGerman-speakingcountries,andreceivedtheVÖWA-Wissenschaftspreis
forhighpracticalandindustrialrelevanceofaPhDthesis.ThetechnicalresultofhisPhDthesis
hasbeenfurtherdevelopedtoacommercialproductandisofferedonthebusinessprocess
managementmarketbythepartnercompanyMetasonicGmbHsince2013.
Since2010,hehasbeenapostdocandassistantprofessorattheKeplerUniversityofLinzwith
researchvisitstotheTechnicalUniversityinDarmstadtandtheRuhr-UniversitätinBochum
(Germany). From 2011 to 2015, he has been the principal investigator and coordinating
projectmanageroftheFP7PEOPLEIAPPprojectIANESandtheLLLLdVToIprojectFARAW.
Hewasscientificallyandadministrativelyresponsibleforbothprojectsfromproposalwriting
untilfinalreporting.Asidethis,hehasalsotwotimesorganizedtheinternationalERASMUS
intensiveprogrammeSURGEOM,asummerschoolteachingprogrammeonsocio-technical
support of organizational work in 2013 and 2014. He has been responsible for the overall
curriculum design and has also been involved in teaching. Since 2016, he is a visiting
researcher at Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands, as an Erwin-SchrödingerFellowfundedbytheAustrianScienceFund.
Stefan Oppl has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in journals and at
internationalconferences(GoogleScholarmetricsasofAugust2016:256citations,h-index:
8).HeisactiveasareviewerforconferencesandjournalsintheareaofHCIandinformation
systems,hasco-organizedtheworkshoponModelsandtheirRoleinCooperationateCSCW
2013andwastheorganizationchairoftheinternationalconferenceS-BPMONE2012.
