Die finnischen Melodic Death Metaller Mors Principium Est veröffentlichen ihr sechstes Album ‘Embers Of A
Dying World‘ am 10. Februar 2017 und bleiben ihrem einzigartigen Sound treu!
Ein Blick auf die bisherige Laufbahn von Mors Principium Est zeigt, dass die Band mit jedem Album Aufsehen
erregen konnte. Denn schon damals - zu Zeiten des Debüts „Inhumanity“ (2003) - waren die Kritiker voll des
Lobes für die Finnen, die unverbraucht klangen und trotzdem keinen Hehl daraus machten, wo ihre Wurzeln
lagen. Vergleiche zu At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity oder auch ihren Landsmännern von Children Of
Bodom wurden von Anfang an gezogen, doch als bloße Kopie wurden MORS PRINCIPIUM EST nie
abgestempelt.
Auch bei den Folge-Alben ‘The Unborn‘ (2005) und ‘Liberation=Termination‘ (2007) waren die Namen der
Szenegrößen stets präsent, aber eher aus dem Grund, diese aufstrebende Band in einem Atemzug mit ihnen
nennen zu können. Diese positive Resonanz auf Seiten der Presse half Mors Principium Est eine loyale
Fangemeinde aufzubauen und sich international zu etablieren. Allerdings gab es ab 2007 diverse
Besetzungswechsel innerhalb der Band, was fast zur Auflösung geführt hätte und der Grund für die lange Pause
war.
Die Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen Musikern über die Folgejahre zeigte, dass der Wille weiterzumachen
vorhanden war und die Band sich gegen ein mögliches Ende aufbäumte. 2011 stießen schließlich Andy Gillion
aus Großbritannien und Andhe Chandler aus Neuseeland als neues Gitarren-Duo zur Band (ausgewählt aus über
200 Bewerbern aus aller Welt). Mit diesem neuen Line-Up entstand das Album ‘… And Death Said Live‘ (2012).
Im Anschluss folgte allerdings ein weiterer Line Up Wechsel: Andhe Chandler verließ die Band und Kevin Verlay
wurde als neuer Gitarrist mit ins Boot geholt. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt im Jahre 2014 waren die Arbeiten am fünften
Album der Band, ‘Dawn of the 5th Era‘, welches dann am Ende des Jahres erschien, schon fast abgeschlossen.
Doch nach einigen Monaten des Tourens im Zuge der Album Veröffentlichung entschied sich Kevin aus
persönlichen Gründen, die Band zu verlassen.
Andy war zu der Zeit schon mitten im Songwriting Prozess und hatte damit bereits die Basis für das nächste
Album geschaffen.
2016 begann die Band schließlich ‘Embers Of A Dying World‘ aufzunehmen. Abgemischt wurde in den
schwedischen Panic Room Studios (Scar Symmetry, Solution .45, Watain) von Thomas “Plec” Johansson”.

‘Heljarkviða’ is meant to depict the Old Norse kingdom of Helheimr; a place for the slain who suffer a ‘helsótt’, a
fatal illness. They are the ones who are not chosen to travel to the joyful and venerated halls of Óðinn and Freyja,
but are instead taken to the kingdom of death, to Hel. It was in early 2014 when Árni (Carpe Noctem, Wöljager),
Stefán (Kerbenok, Wöljager) and Marsél (Helrunar, Wöljager) initially started to compose music with the intention
to set this gloomy mythological realm into music. Caught by the dismal atmosphere that surrounds this interesting
place, Stefán wrote the lyrics by mainly focussing on two different poetic sources from the Old Norse corpus: the
Eddic poems, of which first and foremost the grand late tenth century Old Norse poem Vǫluspá served as the
most important reference, followed closely by poems of contemporary medieval Icelandic warrior skalds such as
Egill Skallagrímsson or Gunnlaugr ormstunga and their mythological battle descriptions.
Hel and her same-named kingdom is ambiguously displayed in the primary sources, which is most likely due to
the fact that descriptions of the place itself are much older than the ones about the goddess. It is because of this
that neither Skaldic and Eddic poetry, nor the impressive corpus of medieval Icelandic saga literature, provide a
coherent picture of the place and the potentially numinous figure. The lyrics for this record, therefore, are a
combination of what is known about both aforementioned aspects of Hel, set into a mythological telling of a
warrior’s death and afterlife.
The text describes a journey of a doomed warrior who fights with his band of Vikings and dies in a blood-driven
ecstasy on the battlefield. After his painful death, his body sinks into the blood-covered soil and travels through
the chthonic wastelands below, only to arrive to a place where all other slain bodies rot together under the reign
of Hel in and around the bleak hall of Éljúðnir, a monstrous building made from the spines of poison-dripping
snakes; a place beyond the spheres of time. Through the treacherous shot guided by Loki, Baldr, the brightest of
all gods, is sent to Hel and the worlds begin to collapse. Now, at the beginning of Ragnarǫk, the undead people
start to wander back to the surface of life to fight at the final battle at Iðavellir. The grand depiction of Ragnarǫk in
Vǫluspá gives the most detailed description of this event and its disastrous conclusion in fire when Surtr cleanses
the earth with his flaming sword Surtalogi. The slain bodies appear, however, again after all life has been
extinguished. Carried by the wings of Níðhǫggr, they fall down to the revitalizing earth to bring back their very
own mythological phaenomenon of death.
It is our hope that some of this apocalyptic atmosphere is transmitted through the music, lyrics and visual arts of
this very special release.

Debütalbums der kanadischen Progressive Power Metaller BOREALIS. Allerdings hat die neue Fassung von
‘World Of Silence‘ (das „MMXVII“ steht für das neue Veröffentlichungsjahr 2017) nicht mehr so viel mit dem
Original gemein; zu deutlich sind die Verbesserungen aller Mitwirkenden in den Bereichen Sound und
Performance. Was bleibt sind allerdings starke Songs - die jetzt deutlich durchschlagskräftiger und auf Top-Niveau
tönen. „World Of Silence“ erschien 2008 ursprünglich in Eigenregie, drei Jahre später folgte mit ‘Fall From Grace‘
das eigentliche Label-Debüt (dieses Album wird Anfang April über AFM neu veröffentlicht), 2015 unterschrieb die
Band dann bei AFM und konnte sich mit dem dritten Album „Purgatory“ direkt unter den besten neuen Metal-Acts
etablieren. ‘Purgatory‘ wurde zum ‘Album des Monats‘ im prestigeträchtigen niederländischen Aardshok Magazin
gekürt und erhielt auch sonst erstklassige Kritiken. Die Band arbeitet aktuell an neuem Material und wird im Herbst

Die belgischen Kapuzenmänner und Horrorfanatiker EMPTINESS haben sich bislang mit vier Full-LengthAlben einen (schaurigen) Namen gemacht. Jetzt hat de Vierer bei Season Of Mist angeheuert, wo am
20.01.2017 das fünfte Album, “Not For Music”, erscheinen wird.
Founded in Europe's center of gravity, Brussels, Belgium in the year 1998, EMPTINESS embarked on their
musical journey with a burning vision to delve deep into darkness and horror. While the band was taking
musical inspiration from different extreme styles such as black and death metal, the Belgians approached them
in an open minded manner of continuous experimentation.
'Not for Music' embeds those early influences in ambient soundscapes that are imbued with a sinister
foreboding of something evil lurking underneath those often elegant textures and surfaces. Strings and
electronics blend seamlessly into an overarching sound of rising darkness that embeds eerily rasping vocals
that scratch along frayed nerve ends like the dry snakeskin whispering of claws gliding over ancient vellum
filled with arcane symbols and forbidden knowledge. Yet far from dwelling in the distant past, this horror has
firmly settled within the concrete, glass and steel vistas of a modern metropolis in our time.
EMPTINESS scored the devil's luck and won the perfect production set-up to create these sinister
soundscapes. After recording in their own Blackout Studio, the Belgians received an invitation to further
enhance the production of 'Not for Music' by Jeordie White aka Twiggy Ramirez (MARILYN MANSON, A
PERFECT CIRCLE, NINE INCH NAILS), who contacted the band after being impressed by their previous
album 'Nothing but the Whole' (2014). Gladly accepting his invitation to Los Angeles, EMPTINESS furthermore
used the golden opportunity to work in this city with Sean Beavan (GUNS N' ROSES, NIN, SLAYER) at
Redrum Studio at the final mix and mastering.
Following their inception, EMPTINESS first released the two demos 'Eternal Rising' (2000) and 'Necrorgy'
(2002) that received a remarkable welcome in the underground. Yet with each new album, 'Guilty to Exist'
(2004), 'Oblivion' (2007), 'Error' (2012), and 'Nothing but the Whole', the Belgians were also increasingly
leaving a mark in mainstream music press.
Now EMPTINESS dare you to close your eyes and let 'Not for Music' lure you into their realm of dark music.

„Langsam wird es unheimlich. Tyfon's Doom, Vultures Vengeance und jetzt Gravebreaker - Gates Of Hell
Records infiltrieren meine Hörgewohnheiten und beissen sich in diesem Jahr in meinem Kleinhirn vehement
fest. Old School Metal mit Kauz-Faktor (ohne introvertiert zu klingen!), fettfrei und unrasiert. Wobei das Trio
aus Schweden (ich hätte es wissen müssen …) im Gegensatz zu den anderen beiden o.g. Bands seinen
Sound so dermaßen zurückfährt, dass du die nackte, fast schon im Proberaum eingefangene Wahrheit zu
hören bekommst. Nämlich, dass die Jungs genau wissen, was sie da tun. Und das auf eine furztrockene, fast
schon entwaffnend abgeklärte Art, die Songs wie "Violent City", den Schlachtenklopfer "Kill And Kill Again"
oder den für mich über alles stehenden Titelsong zu einer ganz besonderen Zeitreise zu den Anfängen
unseres geliebten Metal machen. Bei "Sacrifice" habe ich das Gefühl, damals dabeigewesen zu sein, als
Bands wie Motörhead, Judas Priest oder Mercyful Fate den Grundstein für unser Lebensgefühl legten.
Gravebreaker arbeiten hochauthentisch, scheuen sich nicht vor abgespacten Keyboard-Untermalungen (70ies
anyone?) und haben nach neun fast ausschließlich im Uptempo arbeitenden Grave- äh … Nackenbrechern mit
dem mystischen "Messenger Of Death" noch eine echte Überraschung parat. Muss man gehört haben. Man
kann es drehen und wenden, wie man will: keine Demo, keine EP, einfach dieses Debüt-Album aus dem
Nichts in die Runde geworfen und schon ein Volltreffer. Ich bin begeistert!”

Mit einer Menge Ideen und viel Energie freuen sich Ravager auf die Veröffentlichung ihres ersten vollen Albums
im Februar 2017 und besonders auf die Konzerte und Touren!

Ravager ist eine Thrash Metal Band aus Walsrode, Niedersachsen (D). Sie wurde Ende 2014 gegründet, nachdem Marcel Lehr (Gitarre),
nach längerer musikalischer Flaute, einem ähnlich situierten Dario Rosenberg (Gitarre) den Vorschlag machte, eine neue Band z u
gründen.
Um das Lineup zu vervollständigen fragten beide Mitglieder ihrer ehemaligen Bands und so kamen André Sawade am Bass und Philip
Herbst als Sänger mit ins Boot. Die vier motivierten Musiker fanden schnell einen Proberaum und begannen, erste Songs zu schr eiben,
jedoch gestaltete sich die Suche nach einem Schlagzeuger als schwierig.
Durch die Notlage angetrieben und aus einem schon länger bestehenden Interesse heraus, entschied sich André dazu, den Posten des
Drummers zu übernehmen, an dem er sich mittlerweile pudelwohl fühlt. Das entstandene Bassloch konnte infolge eines Gesprächs auf
einem Grillabend mit Justus, einem jungen, motivierten und sehr langhaarigen Bassisten gefüllt werden.
Endlich komplett, spielte die Band erste lokale Gigs und begann gegen Ende 2015 ihre erste D emo EP „Alarm Clock Terror“
aufzunehmen, welche letztendlich im. März 2016 in Eigenregie veröffentlicht wurde.

Von der klassischen Violine kam sie über verschiedene Spielarten des Jazz zu Singer/Songwriter-Ästhetik und subtilen Pop-Anklängen.
13 Jahre lebte Setién in Kopenhagen, zwischen 2007 und 2012 veröffentlichte sie mit Johanna Borchert unter dem Namen Little Red Suitcase vier Alben.
Das letzte in erweiterter Besetzung mit fünf Bläsern, Little Red Big Bang genannt. Über die Jahre gastierten Setién und Borchert erfolgreich bei
internationalen Festivals, etwa in London, Grenoble, Ottawa, Berlin und Moers. Darüber hinaus war Setién Mitglied in Django Bates' Bigband
Stormchasers, spielte Violine bei Simon Toldam’s Prugelknabe, wirkte als Sängerin und Geigerin an der Seite von Markus Pessonen, Otis Sandsjo und
vielen mehr. 2013 veröffentlichte sie Twelve Sisters, ihr erstes Album unter eigenem Namen.
Rückblickend bezeichnet Elena Setién Kopenhagen als den Ort, an dem sie wesentliche Aspekte ihres künstlerischen Ausdrucks ausformuliert hat.
Dennoch zog es sie im Spätsommer 2015 zurück nach San Sebastián-Donostia, wo sie 1977 geboren wurde.
Natürlich hat der Ortswechsel Dreaming Of Earthly Things inspiriert. War Setiéns Debüt Twelve Sisters noch, wie sie heute sagt, ein Kompromiss
zwischen ihr und dem damaligen Produzenten, zeigt das neue Werk entschlossen ihre eigene Gedanken und Ideen. Für die Umsetzung fand sie in der
Stadt einen wichtigen neuen Partner. Mikel Azpiroz trug als Ko-Produzent, Toningenieur und Mitmusiker (Klavier, Hammond Orgel, Moog Synthesizer, EGitarre) maßgeblich zum Klang der Stücke bei.

Bei der Konzeption des Debütalbums mit dem leicht irritierenden Titel „Vierhändig“ schon. Beim Hörgenuss
keineswegs. Schon das Auftaktstück „Scales And Rivers“ mag ja beginnen wie ein virtuoses Meisterwerk der
modernen Klassik, als säße der amerikanische Weltstar Keith Jarrett am Klavier, nicht der hessische Musikpädagoge
Wäldele. Fröhlich fließen die Harmonien da vom anderen Flo zunächst minimalistisch untermalt wie Smetanas Moldau
mit einer Prise Debussy aus den Boxen. Dann aber wuchtet das Schlagzeug seinen analog treibenden Beat unters
Klavier, das die Klangfarbe zeitgleich auf Bass färbt und aus der melodischen Klassik somit macht, was die OhOhOhs
seit 2005 kennzeichnet: ausgelassenen Analog-Techno – nur eben noch opulenter, noch filigraner, noch hinreißender.
Und so geht es die meisten der zwölf Stücke weiter. Im anschließenden „Cha Cha“ etwa legen die Gastmusiker Juan
Bauste Granda, Philipp Wildenhues und Salar Baygan afrocubanische Rhythmen aus nigerianischen Batá-Trommeln
oder brasilianischen Caxixi-Rasseln über Florian Wäldeles hitzigen Flügel und machen daraus eine Art tribalistisch
angehauchten Clubsound.

Aerosmith were signed to Columbia Records in 1972, and released a string of gold and platinum albums, beginning with their 1973 eponymous debut
album, followed by Get Your Wings in 1974. In 1975, the band broke into the mainstream with the album Toys in the Attic, and their 1976 follow-up Rocks
cemented their status as hard rock superstars. Two additional albums followed in 1977 and 1979. Their first five albums have since attained multi-platinum
status. Throughout the 1970s, the band toured extensively and charted a dozen Hot 100 singles. By the end of the decade, they were among the most
popular hard rock bands in the world and developed a loyal following of fans, often referred to as the "Blue Army". However, drug addiction and internal
conflict took their toll on the band, which led to the departures of Perry and Whitford in 1979 and 1981, respectively; they were replaced by Jimmy Crespo
and Rick Dufay. The band did not fare well between 1980 and 1984, releasing the album Rock in a Hard Place, which was certified gold but failed to
match their previous successes. This radio broadcast document shows the band at their peak of success in the early 80's. Rough, raw and
uncromomising.

This show was one of the last with this line-up.
After that, the original band members "started drifting back together". Perry had kicked his heroin habit, and although Tyler was still drinking, he was in
somewhat better control of himself. Tyler had concluded that "Time heals all wounds. Joe is nothing without me, and I'm nothing without him." They faced
problems, however, as the "group had no current album or record deal. To jump start their career, the band decided on a tour of the United States,
considering as many as 70 performances. In its final form, the tour consisted of 58 performances.

April Wine began in late 1969 in Waverley, Nova Scotia (a suburb of Halifax). The band's name was chosen simply because members thought the two
words sounded good together. The original members were brothers David Henman on guitar and Ritchie Henman on drums. Their cousin Jim Henman
joined in on bass and Myles Goodwyn completed the sound on lead vocals and guitar. In early 1970 the band relocated to Montreal. Shortly after arriving
in their new home the band was signed by Aquarius Records. They recorded and released their debut album April Wine in September 1971. The album
spawned their first single, "Fast Train", which received fairly steady airplay on radio stations across Canada and established Myles Goodwyn as the band's
main songwriter. The single's success led the band's label to ask for a second album amid the first of many lineup changes: Jim Henman left the band in
the fall of 1971 and was replaced by Jim Clench.
This radio Broadcast with interview with Brian Greenway on CD 1 shows the band at their peak with a phenomenal show at the Aladdin Theatre in Las
Vegas.

Now they were the first group to have a platinum album in Canada, and the first to launch a tour that grossed over $1 million. This recording, you listen to
on CD 2, captured by the King Biscuit Flower Hour, was made while the band was promoting Power Play, their last album to have any substantial chart
activity. With this great live performance, April Wine proved their artistic abilities to entertain a large audience.
The opener Anything You Want, You Got It, Future Tense are incredible. Down to the ballads Just Between You And Me and to the classics I Like To
Rock To All Over Town, the band is in a superior, perfect, musically condition and performs at their highest condition.
The band sounds just as strong on the lesser known album tracks, where they were able to stretch out musically to a greater degree. Future Tense, Crash
& Burn and Before The Dawn are nearly as strong as the hit singles. Second guitarist, Brian Greenway, is featured on Before The Dawn, and proved he
was more than a mere back-up musician.

Jim Jidhed, the singer of the band Alien singer, will release his 6th solo album on 27th January 2017.
‘Push On Through’ is a heavier record than the previous ones. It still has the mark of AOR to it, but also a straight hard rock feeling at times. Producer
Daniel Flores, who had a vision for this album, really nails that vision sound wise. Jim’s voice is stronger than ever at 53, and here all his experience,
feeling, heart and soul come together in a very powerful way.
Jidhed was born 1963 in Gothenburg, Sweden. He began playing and singing around the age of ten, and formed his first real band when he was 12-13
years old. At the time he was 16 he started a group called ‘Glamour’, and it was with this band things began to get more serious. 1982, at the age of
nineteen, Jidhed released his first ever single with the band ‘Glamour’. The label was named ‘Polar’ and the woman who signed the band was Marie
Andersson, daughter of Stickan (ABBA ) Andersson.
In 1986 Jidhed wrote a musical and played that in the spring of ‘87. At the same time, in December ’86, he teamed up with a new Swedish band that took
the name ‘Alien’. Alien released two singles during ‘87, ‘Headstrong’ and ‘ I’ll Survive’, and by the fall they recorded ‘Only One Woman’ at ‘Polar’ studio.
Alien recorded their first album early in ’88, at ‘Sound City’ studios in Los Angeles, and just a bit later that year they got a huge hit with ‘Only One Woman’
and headlined a big tour the full spring and summer. For personal reasons Jim left the band in the fall of 1988.
Between 1989 and 2005, the Swedish born singer released five solo albums until he and the original members from Alien teamed up once more, after over
twenty years. They released a single, ‘Ready to fly’, and began playing some selected shows, performing (the songs of) their debut album. They decided
to write a new album, and released ‘ Eternity’ in 2014.
Jim released his fifth solo album in December 2015, titled ‘Tankar i vinternatten’. It’s kind of a Christmas record, but with Swedish lyrics more into to the
depth of things surrounding Christmas, and the state of mind of people around that time of year.
This year 2016, Johan Nyhlén - a true fan of Jim, Alien and the AOR genre - introduced Jim to producer Daniel Flores. Daniel had wanted to work with
Jidhed for a long time, and now the two of them hooked up. ‘Push On Through’ is an album that, from the beginning, was meant to sound different from
anything Jim has done in the past. And for sure, Daniel has made that happen. Daniel, who played the drums on the album himself, produced a heavier
and tougher sound.
Further, on the release you find Ken Sandin (Alien) playing the bass, guitars were performed by Michael Palace and Philip Lindstrand, and Rolf Pilotti took
care of the backing vocals. Jim's son Robin Jidhed was both the engineer and sounding board when Jim recorded his lead vocals.

Mainfelt – FolkRock aus dem schönen Meraner Umland
Südtirols.
Der große Bob Dylan meinte einmal, dass das Touren wie Atmen
für ihn sei: elementar für das Schreiben seiner Songs und dem
Fortbestand seiner Musik.
Die FolkRock-Band Mainfelt aus Südtirol hat sich diesem
Prinzip auf ihrer neuen CD „Backwards Around the Sun“
angenommen und beschlossen, dieses universelle Gefühl,
diesen Lebensstil vom „Life on the Road“ in 11 Songs zu
verewigen. Darüberhinaus wurde der Song „All My Ghosts“ von
Jochen Schmalbach (u.a. Fanta4) neu produziert und ist als
Bonustrack auf dem Album. Erscheinen wird es am 03. Februar
2017.
Nach erfolgreichen Tourmonaten machte sich die Band an das
Schreiben neuer Songs. Sie sollten die Entwicklung der Band auf
den vergangenen Reisen widerspiegeln. „Backwards Around the
Sun“ ist sicherlich das bisher persönlichste Werk von Mainfelt.
Es war die Liebe zur Musik, die die Vier verband und sie dazu
brachte eine der erfolgreichsten Musikgruppen Südtirols ins
Leben zu rufen. Mittlerweile sind Mainfelt zu einer Einheit
verschmolzen, die sich zwar Band nennt, aber Familie meint.
Eben genau diese Entwicklung konstituiert das tragende Gerüst
des neuen Albums.
„Backwards Around the Sun“ markiert somit das nächste Kapitel
im Leben einer von Kritikern und Zuhörern gleichermaßen
hochgelobten Band, die ihre Musik nicht nur spielt sondern auch
lebt.
Mainfelt nimmt die Fans mit 13 neuen Songs mit auf Tournee.
Schließlich wurde das Album zur Gänze während einer
Livesituation im Little Big Beat Studio in Liechtenstein
aufgenommen, um dem Zuhörer ein möglichst authentisches
Konzertgefühl zu vermitteln.
Die Band beschreibt ihre Songs als „Handcrafted und
Heartmade“. Mit viel Liebe fürs Detail, einer Portion
Menschlichkeit
und
einem
unvergleichlichen
Charme
präsentieren sich Patrick, Kevin, Veit und Willy auf der neuen
Scheibe, die, obgleich es der Titel vielleicht suggeriert, nicht in
die Vergangenheit schaut, sondern vielmehr einer glanzvollen
und erfolgreichen Zukunft entgegenblickt. Mit Musikern hält es
sich manchmal genau so wie mit gutem Scotch. Mit der Zeit reifen
sie und entwickeln eine ganz bestimmte Note, die sie einzigartig
macht. Mit „Backwards Around the Sun“ ist Mainfelt dies allemal
gelungen.

Angefangen hat alles auf der Strasse. Dort hat die fünfköpfige Folkpop-Combo zum ersten Mal die Laufkundschaft zum Stehen gebracht.
Seit dieser strassenmusikalischen Europatour im Sommer 2013 spielten Serafyn so viele Konzerte wie möglich – ganz egal ob Hinterhof
oder Festival.
Die grösste Resonanz kam aber aus dem Internet: Bereits über 300'000 (!) mal wurden ihre Lieder auf Soundcloud und Youtube
angeklickt. Dies, nachdem die englische Band Fink den ersten Track von Serafyn, «Take To The Skies», auf ihrem Soundcloudprofil
geteilt hatte. Die Rückmeldungen waren überwältigend und kamen aus der ganzen Welt. Der Song und die Folgesingles «Quantum
Leap» und «Netherlands» und «Gold» wurden in verschiedenen Radios quer durch Europa gespielt.
Inspiriert und beeinflusst durch Künstler wie Daughter, Feist oder Fink, nehmen dich Serafyn mit ihren gefühlsvollen Stimmen umgeben
von Cello, Kontrabass, Gitarre und Cajòn mit auf eine Reise in einen Traum, wie sie die Welt sehen. Manchmal lebensfroh, manchmal
nachdenklich, immer magisch.

Sweet Mary Jane was formed in the summer of 2012 in Sundsvall, Sweden, by Tomas Nässlin (ex, Roulette), Per Olof Åsberg (ex-Airborn) and young
talents Alexander Olsson (ex-Anacondah) and Andreas Sparby (ex-L.A.C.K.).
They wrote the song “Fire in your eyes” with Tomas Lundgren from Roulette that Nässlin had kept in touch with from his time in the band. Later on Tomas
Berggren (ex-Razamanaz) stepped up to take over the vocals. Tomas is the brother of Stefan Berggren who is known from Berggren Kerslake band,
Grand Slam and also Snakes In Paradise.
The wide variety of musical influences really shows a great AOR sound that the band is really proud of. Lars Chriss of Lions Share produced their debut
album “Winter In Paradise”.

Hydrofunk setzt sich aus 2 Wortstämmen zusammen. Einmal das aus dem griechischen, abgeleiteten Wort Hydor, was so viel wie Wasser bedeutet und
zum anderen, das Musikgenre Funk (bluesbetonte und auf Elemente der Gospelmusik zurückgreifende Spielweise im Jazz).
HydroFunk ist eine musikalische Symbiose, die aus dem Beatarchiv der beiden Tonkünstler MecsTreem und Doe Diggla resultiert.
Hier treffen Soundlandschaften in Slowmotion aus Synthesizer Layern auf knackige Bässe und harte 8o8`s.
Die beiden Künstler haben ihre Songs nicht zusammen produziert, sondern sich dafür entschieden ihr Kompositionen auf Vinyl gegenüberzustellen. Zwei
Seiten eines Ganzen, die sich ergänzen und nicht konkurrieren.
Trotz dieser Herangehensweise ist es gelungen ein Homogenes Ganzes zu schaffen, das in seiner Form ein komplettes Album darstellt.
Das Instrumental-Projekt wurde zusätzlich mit eigens dafür entworfenen Visual Clips veredelt.
Der Ulmer Kommunikations - und -Grafikdesigner Thomas Hajdu hat es verstanden die progressiven Titel Der LP in unnachahmliche Clips zu verwandeln,
die den Betrachter in hypnotischer Art und Weise fesseln.

MecsTreem
Mecs (*1986) ist Musiker und macht seit 2002 instrumentale Tonkunst.
Er brachte sich als Autodidakt das Klavierspiel bei und begeisterte sich schnell für digitale Musikproduktion.
Mittlerweile ist er Tour DJ für diverse Rapper und zwischen dem Musizieren auch als Videokünstler und Fotograf tätig.
Seine Releases der letzten Jahre sind Genre übergreifend und es ist schwer seine Musik in ein Schema zu verpacken.
In den letzten Jahren arbeitete er mit verschiedenen Künstlern zusammen wie: Puppetmastaz, Hiob, Morlockk Dilemma, Audio88&Yassin sowie Karate
Andi, Mc Bomber und Plusmacher.
DoeDiggla
DoeDiggla (*1984), geb. Dominik O. Duschek ist ein deutscher Musikproduzent der verschiedene Genre bedient.
Seine Musik ist geprägt von BoomBap/Glitch/Elektronic-Elementen. Seine Beats sind melodisch, elektronisch, Bass & Drum lastig.
Der inzwischen in Kreuzberg ansässige Wahlberliner, wurde in der Kleinstadt Ulm geboren. Vor gefühlt zwei Jahrzehnten, begann er mit einfachen Mitteln
seine ersten Beats zu bauen, übte an den Plattentellern und investierte sein ganzes Geld in Schallplatten und Equipment.
Mittlerweile ist er selbständig und lizensiert unter anderem „Gemafreie Musikrechte seiner Werke im Sportsektor“ an Brands wie Adidas, Rockshockx,

The latest in our popular Songwriters series puts the spotlight on the late Rod McKuen.

A born outsider, Rod McKuen was embraced by millions of fans who connected with the expressions of desire, nostalgia
and self-acceptance found in his songs and poems. In the early 1960s, he began to visit France and gain entry into Parisian
songwriting circles. By 1964 he was co-writing with a host of leading French chansonniers, most notably Jacques Brel,
resulting in such international hits as ‘If You Go Away’ and ‘Seasons In The Sun’.

Frank Sinatra devoted his 1969 album “A Man Alone” to McKuen material, turning in suavely bittersweet renditions of such
tunes as ‘Lonesome Cities’, ‘Love’s Been Good To Me’ and ‘I’ve Been To Town’. Meanwhile, McKuen gained even wider
exposure by composing songs for the films The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie, A Boy Named Charlie Brown and The
Borrowers. Another creative avenue opened up when he collaborated with arranger/composer Anita Kerr on a series of
thematic albums beginning with 1967’s “The Sea”, a soft-pop landmark of its era.

This compilation offers a taste of the breadth and diversity of McKuen’s output as a songwriter. The versions of his tunes
gathered here testify to his versatility, craftsmanship and feel for a strong hook. From folk anthems to movie themes and
French chanson ballads, these songs cover exceptionally wide ground.

His death in January 2015 left some of his dreams still unfulfilled, but there was no denying the scope of his
accomplishments over a 50-plus year career. Through ability, tenacity and sheer will, he overcame enormous obstacles to
become one of the great pop culture icons of his time. Surviving poverty, damaged vocal chords and the sneers of the
intelligentsia, he left behind a body of work that deserves rediscovery.

Compilation and sleeve notes are by McKuen’s friend and producer, Jim Pierson.

Scepter/Wand and Musicor/Dynamo records were quintessential New York soul labels. Their common link was Luther Dixon,
who set Scepter on the right road with the Shirelles and followed up with success for Tommy Hunt, Chuck Jackson and Maxine
Brown. He split for Musicor in 1966 where he got the Platters, Tommy Hunt and Inez & Charlie Foxx back into the charts.
Scepter/Wand had the bigger black music catalogue and dominates this compilation. It is the third in the recent “Manhattan
Soul” series: across-the-board soul covering the 60s and the first half of the 70s. A recent detailed book about those imprints
by frequent Kent contributor Steve Guarnori has thrown the spotlight on the wealth of great material issued.
Rare vinyl is represented by beautiful ballads from Sonny Turner with ‘Now That You’re Gone’, Billy Byers’ ‘Remind My Baby
Of Me’ and Dan & The Clean Cuts’ ‘Open Up Your Heart (And Let Love In)’. The Charts’ ‘Nobody Made You Love Me’ and the
Fabulous Dinos’ ‘That Same Old Song’ are now expensive dance tracks and the Esquires’ glorious ‘How Could It Be’ is
currently enjoying many DJ plays on the rare soul scene.
Late 60s, gritty, southern funk comes from the New Orleans Johnny Moore aka Deacon John Moore and the highly regarded
Lee Moses. The subtler sound of the south is heard in Earl King’s overlooked slowie ‘A Part Of Me’. Similarly neglected is

Als im Jahre 1986 Roadrunner Records mit »Sin Will Find
You Out« von Original Sin eine weitere Platte in die Läden
hievten, wurden vor allem Vergleiche zu anderen All-GirlFormationen wie The Runaways, Girlschool und Rock
Goddess gezogen. Erst viel später stellte sich heraus,
dass auch bei Original Sin (ähnlich wie vorher bei
Exorcist) David DeFeis, Sänger der Epic-Metal-Meister
Virgin Steele, die Fäden gezogen hatte. Mit Danielle
Draconis stand zudem seine Schwester hinterm Mikro.
David DeFeis kennt demnach jedes noch so kleine Detail,
das sich hinter diesem mysteriösen Album verbirgt: “Die
gesamte Platte wurde in ganzen zwei Tagen
aufgenommen und gemixt. Genau eine Woche nach der
Exorcist-LP. Ich habe das Album geschrieben, einige
Stücke davon zusammen mit Edward von Virgin Steele,
und produziert. Die Texte stammen ebenfalls allesamt aus
meiner Feder. Ursprünglich sollte die Band sich Satan’s
Daughters nennen. Dieser Name wurde allerdings fünf
Minuten vor Zwölf verworfen, wohl wegen der harten
Vorgehensweise der PMRC zu jener Zeit. Ich war wirklich
nicht sehr glücklich über diese Entscheidung.”

Ob nun Satan’s Daughters oder Original Sin, es handelte
sich um ein reines Studioprojekt. Original Sin haben (bis
heute) nicht eine einzige Live-Show absolviert! “Oh, die
‘Band’ existierte während dieser wundervollen Proben und
für die zwei glorreichen Tage im Studio. Pure ‘Magick’.
Aber danach war Schicht im Schacht. Bis in alle Ewigkeit.
Es handelte sich um ein wirklich obskures Album, das
natürlich bei weitem nicht den Bekanntheitsgrad von
Exorcist erreichen konnte. Ich bin dennoch der Meinung,
dass die Songs auf »Sin Will Find You Out« wirklich cool
waren und bin äußerst froh darüber, dass der Platte mit
der vorliegenden Wiederveröffentlichung auf High Roller
Records noch einmal neues Leben eingehaucht worden
ist.”

"Full Throttle Heavy Metal 'n' Roll" aus Schweden!
Eine explosive Mischung aus frühen Iron Maiden (mit
Paul Di'Anno), Accept, Judas Priest, mit einer Prise
Motörhead.
Screamer gründeten sich Anfang des Jahres 2009 in
Ljungby, Småland, in der Besetzung Christoffer
Svensson, Martin Hallberg, Anton Fingal und Henrik
Petersson. Das erste Demotape der Gruppe, "Never
Going Down", erhielt national sowie international
reges Airplay.
Im Anschluss an das Demo entwickelten sich
Screamer zur fleißigsten unsigned Liveband
Schwedens. Die Band asbolvierte über 60 Gigs in
nicht einmal 18 Monaten!
Ende 2010 begannen dann die Aufnahmen zur
Debüt-LP "Adrenaline Distractions". Kurz danach
verließ Gitarrist Martin Hallberg Screamer und wurde
durch Dejan Rosic ersetzt.

Der Stil von Screamer ist nicht leicht zu fassen, aber
die galoppierden Rhythmen und das Dual-GuitarTapping bei "Can you hear me" erinnern an Iron
Maiden zu Zeiten von Killers. Im Gegensatz zu reinen
Retro-Metal-Bands wie Enforcer oder Ram erkennt
man bei Screamer aber auch eine gehörige Portion
Rock 'n Roll.
Drummer Henrik Petersson erläutert: "Der Einfluss
von Motörhead ist natürlich nicht zu verleugnen.
Besonders bei unserer Hymne 'Screamer'. Ist ja auch
kein Wunder - da hat unser Sänger jeden Tag drei
Wochen lang dasselbe Motörhead-Album gehört
bevor wir ins Studio gegangen sind."

großen Europatour mit '77 aus Spanien und
ihren Kumpels Bullet aus Schweden auf. „Die
Full Pull Tour' mit Bullet und '77 war eine
riesige Sause“, findet Drummer Henrik
Petersson. „Es fühlte sich einfach großartig
an, ein breiteres Publikum zu erreichen. Wir
alle in der Band lieben die Bühne.“
Screamer sind zuversichtlich, dass ihre zweite
Platte „Phoenix“ für noch mehr Aufsehen
sorgen wird als der bärenstarke Erstling. „Das
Album ist ein wahres Monster“, strotzt Henrik
vor Freude. „Die Spielzeit beträgt rund 45
Minuten. Diesmal gibt es keine Bonus-Tracks
für Vinyl oder CD. Wir haben auf Tour zwar
einige Live-Gigs mitgeschnitten, wissen aber
nicht, ob, wann und wie wir diese Aufnahmen
verwenden werden. Das Artwork stammt
abermals von Robin Gnista. Wir sind extrem
stolz auf unsere Arbeit und freuen uns auf die
Reaktionen. Es ist definitiv ein großer Schritt
nach vorne.“

The legendary Screamin’ Jay Hawkins was one of pop’s most colourful characters; a one-man circus sideshow
with some of the most memorable routines - and props - the music world had ever witnessed. Yet the author of
the R&B standard ‘I Put A Spell On You’ was also an accomplished and serious musician, as his many vintage
recordings demonstrate.

While Hawkins recorded prolifically during the 1950s and 1969s, he only released three long-players during that
same period. The second of these, “The Night And Day Of Screaming Jay Hawkins” is not only the rarest, but
was for many years considered the strangest. Recorded in London in 1965 with UK session men and issued the
following year on Shel Talmy’s Planet label, the record’s fascinating blend of louche lounge balladry, frantic
R&B workouts and cool club groove is now regarded as a quintessential mod-jazz artefact.

Ace’s “The Planet Sessions” sees the first official reissue for this overlooked gem, and the original album’s
running time is doubled with unissued stereo variants, alternate takes and a pair of exciting outtakes, all drawn
from the original Abbey Road session tapes. Detailed notes spell out Hawkins’ various UK sojourns during the
mid-1960s. All in all, “The Planet Sessions” is not only a reappraisal, but a reaffirmation of the bizarre genius of

Ultimative Werkschau von Stormtrooper, der Band
um Sänger Paul Merrell (der sich 1981 der
NWOBHM-Legende Jaguar anschloss).
Noch bevor Sounds-Chefredakteur Alan Lewis den
Namen New Of British Heavy Metal überhaupt
kreierte, kämpften Stormtrooper im englischen West
Country bereits jahrelang gegen die dortige PunkHegemonie an. Ursprünglich von Colin Bond
gegründet (der später mit Stampede bekannt werden
sollte), nahm die Karriere von Stormtrooper mit dem
Einstieg des Ausnahmesängers Paul Merrell im
Jahre 1980 so richtig Fahrt auf. Sein erster Job war
es, Lyrics für die beiden Stücke “Still Comin’ Home”
sowie “Pride Before A Fall” zu verfassen, die später
im Jahr auf dem Label Heartbeat Heavies als 7”
Single veröffentlicht wurden (aufgenommen in den
Crescent Studios zu Bath).

Nach der Single wurde das Material von
Stormtrooper zunehmend komplexer, mit langen
Instrumentalpassagen sowie schweren MoogSynthesizern, das Gesamtklangbild bewegte sich
immer mehr in Richtung Rush, wobei Colin Bond
betont: “Nicht ein Lick, nicht ein Riff, nicht eine
Passage auf dem Album ist direkt von Rush geklaut.”
Die
wachsende
Progressivität
der
späten
Stormtrooper-Kompositionen sorgte schnell dafür,
dass die Metal-Gemeinde der damaligen Zeit sich in
zwei Lager spaltete. Bond lehnte es kategorisch ab,
seine musikalischen Ansprüche zu reduzieren, um
das Mainstream-Publikum ruhigzustellen. Nicht alle
im Lager von Stormtrooper teilten indes seine
Meinung und so löste sich die tief gespaltene Band
gegen Ende 1981 desillusioniert auf. Paul Merrell
schloss sich in London zuerst Hellrazer an, um wenig
später bei Jaguar einzusteigen.
»Pride Before A Fall – The Lost Album« beinhaltet
neben den beiden erwähnten Single-Stücken sieben
unveröffentlichte Aufnahmen und geht deswegen als
absolutes Muss für ernsthafte NWOBHM-Sammler
durch.

Six years before Townes Van Zandt’s untimely death in 1997, his renewed studio activity produced a
clutch of new material and re-workings, most of which sadly, still resides on tape. However, recordings
such as this, offer fans a valuable opportunity to hear exactly what was going on underneath.
His appearance alongside lifelong friend Guy Clark in 1991 at the Cactus Café in Austin, Texas,
remains one of his most prized performances of the period. Moreover, it helps to portray how Texas
produced one of the modern era’s most potent and elegant lyricists this side of Shakespeare. As Lester
Bangs once said of the man, his songs come “from a depth of feeling that few men can touch.”
