Technical Data Sheet Rhenocure® TIBTD Specialty and standard chemicals Function Ultra-accelerator of natural and synthetic rubber vulcanization; curing agent for vulcanization without free sulfur or for low-sulfur vulcanization Product description Composition: >99 % tetraisobutyl thiuram disulfide (TIBTD) Appearance: white to off-white powder Melting point: approx. 70 °C Sulfur content: approx. 30 % Ash content: max 1.0 % Physiological properties: see safety data sheet Use Mode of action: Rhenocure TIBTD accelerates the vulcanization of natural and synthetic rubbers, it also operates as curing agent/sulfur donor. The addition of mercapto or sulfonamide accelerators decelerates the vulcanization process. Basic accelerators such as aldehyde amine, guanidine, xanthogenate, or zinc dithiophosphates (Rhenogran ZAT-70 or Rhenogran ZADT-50) have an additional activating effect. Rhenocure TIBTD is used as a primary accelerator in the presence of sulfur, as a secondary accelerator with thiazoles and sulfenamide amongst others, as well as vulcanizing agent in low-sulfur crosslinking systems. It produces reversion persistent vulcanizates with good aging characteristics. Processing: Because of its limited addition of inorganic dispersants Rhenocure TIBTD is a free-flowing dipping of tetraisobutyl thiuram disulfide without tendency to agglutinate. Due to the low melting point of the active ingredient a fast adsorption and an excellent dispersion is provided. Dosage: As primary or secondary accelerator or as sulfur donor 0.1-4.0 phr, depending on application Application: Particularly suitable for heat and reversion resistant rubber goods in EV and semi-EV crosslinking systems; cable sheathing and insulation, profiles, hoses, molded articles and solid rubber Packaging 25 kg carton with PE bag inside on 600 kg skid Page 1 of 2 Version: Revised: Printed on: 3/16.
