November 9:00–13:15 FINAL SYMPOSIUM of the WWTF DIVERSITY & IDENTITY CALLS 2010 / 2011 In 2010 and 2011 WWTF funded ten social sciences & humanities projects as a result of two thematically oriented calls. The calls were issued as part of the City of Vienna sponsored programme »Social Sciences and Humanities in Vienna« revolving around the issue of »Diversity & Identity«. An international jury selected the most innovative projects from large number of applications. The idea of the final symposium is that the projects - which have all ended by now - present their most relevant outcomes and discuss these with former members of the call jury (Leo Lucassen, Helga Nowotny, Shalini Randeria & Kirk Scott), further invited researchers (Aditya Bharadwaj, Eberhard Raithelbauer & Dirk Rupnow) as well as with the audience at a public event. The programme includes a keynote speach by Kirk Scott from Lund University fowllowed by five thematically structured panels. A detailled programme will be available at http://www.wwtf.at/events/symposium-diversity SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES IN VIENNA - A PROGRAMME FINANCED by the CITY OF VIENNA The programme for the social sciences and humanities in Vienna was launched in 2008 - financed by the City of Vienna - in order to acknolwedge the immense relevance of the SSH for Vienna and its culture. The progamme aimed to facilitate quality, interdisciplinarity and internationalisation of this research domain. From 2008 to 2013, WWTF organised five calls alongside three different themes (»Art(s)&Sciences«, »Diversity & Identity« and »Public Spaces in Transition«) and dedicated more than 8 m Euro to ten projects and five summer schools. A potential future programme sponsored by the City of Vienna could further contribute to the development of the SSH in Vienna. Particiaption is free. The symposium will be held in English.
