PHYSIKALISCHES KOLLOQUIUM Referent: Prof. Dr. Olena Gomonay Interdisciplinary Spintronics Research Group, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität, Mainz Thema: Antiferromagnetic spin-smth-tronics: phenomenological models and approaches Zeit und Ort: Dienstag, 8.11.2016, 16:40 Uhr Recknagel-Bau, Hörsaal REC/C213, Haeckelstr. 3 Leiter: Jun.-Prof. Dr. Dmytro Inosov Kurzfassung: Nowadays antiferromagnets compete with ferromagnetic materials in the fields of active spintronics devices. Antiferromagnets are faster, higher protected from noise and more scalable than their ferromagnetic counterparts. However, their magnetic dynamics differs form the magnetic dynamics of ferromagnets and in many cases seems contrintuitive to "ferromagnetic community". In my lecture I will highlight the peculiarities of antiferromagnetic dynamics in the presence of spin currents (spintronics), spin-orbit torques (spinorbitronics) and temperature gradients (caloritronics). I will also give and discuss several examples which illustrate differences and similarities of antiferro- and ferromagnetic spin-smth-tronics. Kurzbiographie: Graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1985. After working for 10 years in the National Academy of Science of Ukraine (Institute for Metal Physics) jointed National Technical University "KPI" for the pilot project aimed at starting the physical-technical education in Ukraine. Since 2000 developed and taught the course of "Quantum information theory" for Bachelor and Master students (for the first time in Ukraine). Since 2015 joined Sinova group at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität. Scientific interests: theory of magnetism and, in particular, antiferromagnetism, antiferromagnetic spintronics, quantum optics.
