DSH-Vorbereitungskurs an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena
Der DSH-Kurs ist die beste und intensivste Vorbereitung auf die DSH-Prüfung. Qualifizierte
Lehrkräfte mit Hochschulabschluss, die mit den modernsten Lehr- und Lernmethoden
vertraut sind, unterrichten in internationalen Gruppen und trainieren mit Ihnen alle
studienrelevanten sprachlichen Fertigkeiten. Schwerpunkte sind die Entwicklung der
Schreibkompetenz und das argumentative Sprechen.
Voraussetzungen
Eine Hochschulzugangsberechtigung für ein späteres Studium an der Universität Jena und
Sprachkenntnisse mindestens auf dem Zertifikatsniveau B1 / GER (z.B. Goethe-Zertifikat B1,
TestDaF mind. 4 x 3 und/oder 800 Unterrichtseinheiten Deutsch von einem anerkannten
Sprachinstitut).
Kursdauer
Die Teilnehmer werden mit der Zulassung zu einem Eingangstest / Einstufungstest
eingeladen. Das Ergebnis dieses Tests entscheidet über die endgültige Aufnahme in den
Kurs. Das Ergebnis entscheidet über die Einstufung in den ein- bzw. zweisemestrigen Kurs.
Pro Semester umfasst der Kurs 300 Stunden (20 Unterrichtseinheiten an vier Tagen pro
Woche, ein Tag bleibt frei für das Selbststudium). Der Unterricht findet zwischen Mitte
Oktober und Mitte Februar, Anfang April und Mitte Juli statt. Die Anzahl der Kursplätze ist
begrenzt.

Besonderheiten des DSH-Kurses in Jena
Als Kursteilnehmer sind Sie für ein ganzes Semester (1.10. – 31.3.; 1.4. – 30.9.) Studierende
an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. Sie erhalten einen Studentenausweis (preiswertes
Essen und Eintritte), das Semesterticket (kostenloser Nahverkehr) und Sie dürfen im
Studentenwohnhaus wohnen.
Nach Beendigung des DSH-Vorbereitungskurses ist eine nochmalige Bewerbung zum
Fachstudium erforderlich. Die Entscheidung, ob ein Studienplatz zugeteilt wird, kann erst
dann im Zulassungs- und Auswahlverfahren bzw. durch den zuständigen Masterausschuss
getroffen werden.
Betreuungsprogramm
Der Verein JenDaF am Institut für Auslandsgermanistik der Universität Jena organisiert die
Kurse und bietet zusammen mit dem Internationalen Büro der Universität Jena ein Tutorienund Betreuungsprogramm an. Das ist eine besondere und zusätzliche Leistung für alle
Kursteilnehmer. Die Tutoren sind Studierende aus den Bachelor- oder Masterstudium im
Fachbereich Deutsch als Fremdsprache, die teilweise selbst über DSH-Erfahrungen
verfügen. Sie helfen bei der Orientierung im studentischen Alltag Die Tutoren bieten
landeskundliche Ausflüge an (Jena, Weimar, Erfurt) und beraten Sie in wöchentlichen
Tutorien, in denen der Lehrstoff wiederholt und vertieft wird.

Anmeldung zur DSH-Prüfung am Ende des Kurses
Am Ende des Semesters gibt es eine DSH-Probeprüfung unter authentischen Bedingungen.
Das Bestehen der Probeprüfung und die regelmäßige Teilnahme am Kurs sind
Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme an der DSH-Prüfung. Die Prüfung für Kursteilnehmer findet
jeweils im Februar und im Juli statt.
Preparatory Course for the German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education
(DSH) at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena
This German language course is the best and most intensive preparation for the German
Language Test for Admission to Higher Education, the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den
Hochschulzugang” (DSH). Qualified teaching staff who hold a university degree themselves
make use of modern teaching and learning methods to teach international groups of students
and to practise all language skills that you will need for your studies. A particular focus will be
on developing your writing and argumentative speaking skills.
Prerequisites
A university entrance qualification allowing you to eventually take up studies at the Friedrich
Schiller University Jena, and language skills at least at the certificate level B1 / GER (e.g.
Goethe-Zertifikat B1, TestDaF at least 4x3 and/or 800 teaching units from a recognized
language school).
Duration
When admitted to the course, participants are invited to an assessment/placement test. The
results of this test will be decisive for admission/non-admission to the course. They will also
determine whether an applicant will have to participate in the course of one semester or the
course of two semesters. The course comprises 300 hours of teaching per semester (20
teaching units on four days per week, one days per week is reserved for independent
studying). The course runs for 15 weeks per semester, between mid October through early
February, eraly April through mid July. The number of places available in the course is
limited.

Special Features of the Course in Jena
All participants in the German language course will be enrolled as students at the Friedrich
Schiller University Jena for a full semester (1 October – 31 March; 1 April – 30 September).
They will receive a student identity card (giving access to low-priced food and reduced
entrance fees) and a semester ticket (free public transportation). They will be allowed to live
in student residences.
Upon successful completion of the Preparatory Course for the German Language Test for
Admission to Higher Education (DSH), all participants who wish to will have to apply again
for the study programme of their choice. A decision on admission/non-admission to the
chosen study programme can only be made in the admission/selection process following
your application or by the Selection Committee for Masters programmes.

Tutoring and Support Programme
The courses are organized by the JenDaF association at the Institute of German as a
Foreign Language of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. Together with the International
Office of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, it offers a tutoring and support programme to
all participants – a special feature and additional service of the course in Jena. Tutors are
students studying German as a Foreign Language in the Bachelors and Masters
programmes, some of whom have previously participated in the Preparatory Course for the
German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education (DSH) themselves. They offer
support for organizing everyday life as a student in Jena where needed, organize cultural
trips (in Jena or to Weimar and Erfurt), and will offer advice in their weekly tutorial courses
where they will also revise and expand on course content.
Registration for the German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education (DSH) at the
End of the Course
At the end of the semester, all participants will sit a mock examination under authentic exam
conditions. Passing this mock examination and regular attendance at the course during the
semester are prerequisites for admission to the German Language Test for Admission to
Higher Education (DSH). For all participants in the preparatory course, this DSH always
takes place in February and in July, respectively.
