An der neuen Professur für Umwelthydrosysteme der Fakultät für Umwelt und Natürliche
Ressourcen der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg ist ab dem 1.10.2016 eine
Postdoc-/Wissenschaftliche Qualifikationsstelle
Umwelthydrologische Systeme im Klimawandel
zu besetzen. Die Vollzeitstelle ist zunächst als Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (TVL 13) auf
drei Jahre befristet. Eine baldige Umwandlung in eine akademische Ratsstelle (A13) ist jedoch vorgesehen und eine Verlängerung um weitere drei Jahre möglich. Die Stelle bietet die
Gelegenheit zur wissenschaftlichen Qualifikation durch eine Habilitation.
Wir suchen eine hochmotivierte aufstrebende Persönlichkeit mit klaren Zielen und Ideen für
eigene Forschungsprojekte, die fachlich die Forschung der Professur für Umwelthydrosysteme ergänzen und erweitern. Mögliche Forschungsbereiche sind die interdisziplinären
Schnittstellen von Klimatologie und Hydrologie oder Ökologie und Hydrologie auf regionaler
bis globaler Skala. Im Vordergrund der Forschung soll die Analyse und Modellierung gekoppelter hydrologischer Systeme im Klimawandel, z.B. anhand der gängigen ModellVergleichsstudien (MIPs) oder eigener Modellkopplungen stehen. Wir erwarten eine aktive
Beteiligung am Aufbau und den Aktivitäten der neuen Gruppe. Die Aufgaben in der Lehre (4
SWS) sind im B.Sc. Studiengang Umweltnaturwissenschaften mit Nebenfach Umwelthydrologie, im M.Sc. Studiengang Hydrologie und anderen Studiengängen der Fakultät für Umwelt
und Natürliche Ressourcen angesiedelt.

und Natürliche Ressourcen bestens vernetzt und bieten dabei ein Umfeld, in dem Sie eigene

Voraussetzung für die Einstellung ist ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium der Hydrologie, Meteorologie, Umweltnaturwissenschaften, Geowissenschaften, oder verwandter Bereiche. Eine qualifizierte Promotion und Publikationen im Bereich Hydrologie, Hydroklimatologie oder Umweltnaturwissenschaften, evtl. Erfahrung als Post-Doc sowie sehr gute Englischkenntnisse werden vorausgesetzt. Ein hohes Maß an Selbständigkeit, Flexibilität,
Teamgeist und Organisationsfähigkeit wird erwartet. Die Universität Freiburg fördert die

The new Chair of Environmental Hydrological Systems at the Faculty of Environment and
Natural Resources of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a fixed-term
Post-Doctoral/Academic position
Hydrological systems under climate change
The full time position for three years will initially be at the rank of Research Scientist (Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in TVL 13), but a conversion into an Assistant Professor (A13
non-tenure track) and an extension for another three years is foreseen. The position provides
the opportunity to obtain a „habilitation“. Earliest starting date is 1 Oct 2016.
We seek a highly motivated young scientist with goals and ideas for independent research
that complements and expands the current research at the Chair of Environmental Hydrological Systems. Possible research areas include the interdisciplinary interfaces of climatology
and hydrology or ecology and hydrology, preferably at regional to global scales. Overarching
subject should be the analysis and modelling of coupled hydrological systems under climate
change, e.g. based on data from current model intercomparison projects (MIPs) or coupling
of own models. We expect an active involvement in the establishment and activity of the new
chair group. Teaching duties will include 4 SWS (ca. 2 courses or one course with practical
component per term) within the BSc Environmental Sciences (minor: environmental hydrology), the MSc Hydrology, and other programs of the faculty.
We offer an inspiring interdisciplinary work environment within the newly established chair
group for Environmental Hydrological Systems, which was recently awarded a DFG Heisenberg professorship and a number of grant funded projects. The group relies on a wide network internationally, nationally and within the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources.
It thus provides an excellent environment and support to develop an independent research

Prerequisites for the position are a university degree in hydrology, meteorology, environmental sciences, geosciences or related disciplines. Applicants are expected to have a doctoral
degree (PhD or equivalent) and demonstrated high-level publications in hydrology, hydroclimatology or environmental science and possibly some postdoctoral experience. Excellent
English is a must; German will be required for daily life and teaching of the undergraduate
courses in German will be expected after some time. Candidates are expected to be independent, flexible, willing and able to work in a team, and should have demonstrated organisational skills. The University of Freiburg is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates with
